| Fencing Video, Helpful or Not? Do you think watching fencing videos, such as world championships, golubitsky's golden bout, or other high level competitions, helps your own fencing?

| Personally - yes. I like watching how the top levels fence as it gives me new ideas for actions as well as seeing how they apply strategies. |

by the way craig, i didn't know you were that young!? how do they let you compete?? |

| An emphatic YES!! As Craig said, it helps me to see new moves and develop new strategies. We watched the 2000 olympics video in practice and analyzed it, and the day afterwards I could see a big difference in my fencing. I've been trying to keep and make habits of the new things I was working on from the video.

| definitely, it's great to see the reactions of top foilists to particular situations. . . When to step in, when to run away, when to make a fake parry. . .

| It is very good to watch them, however, they must be taken as a grain of salt. If someone watches the top fencers and tries to do everything like the top fencers do they could run into some trouble. It is best to simply practice the fundamental moves and watch the videos for some tactical ideas.

| Fencing videos are above all fun to watch. Sometimes they can give interesting ideas. The easiest most useful thing to discern from fencing videos is tactics I believe, noting in what situations to employ what.
If one sees a cool 'move' executed however, trying to mimick it without context is a good way to develop bad form. But going to your coach with the video and saying "teach me that" can get you started at least

| The videos are give me great ideas even when watching the second, third or fouth time. I try to compare their tactics with my own ideas and videos also gives me a visible goal to work towards. |
