Array Where do you stand? I noticed that most fencers are liberals. Is it true? -

Array I'm a flaming conservative, a flag waver, and a christian. I support traditional marriage and parenting, and I think that we should tightly control our borders, with a tighter, more extreme policied border patrol. I support capital punishment, and I believe in a smaller federal government and low taxes. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

Array I consider myself a moderate. "Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never . . . never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense." Churchill, 1941 -

Array I don't know. Most of the fencers i know are fairly liberal, but i live in a fairly liberal area. I am a very liberal democrat, at least on most things.

Array Liberal on social issues. Mixed/moderate on others. I do not think that neatly fits with Republican vs. Democrat. Current Republican fiscal policy is far from conservative, for example. "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Array My first thought when reading the heading was..."On the ground, but sometimes I stand on a chair to get people's attention." Insert appropriate short joke here.
Then I actually read what the thread was about. I don't take one side or the other (I hate labels), but, like Soldier, I'm conservative. "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Array Conservative on areas, liberal on others.
I don't classify myself. But I'm voting Demo for a reason. -

Array I'm pretty liberal. . . For my party, I'm starting a new one. It's called the "more girls for straight guys party". the intentions of the party are to increase the chances for the average straight guy to get a girlfriend. So as my friend who is a girl pointed out to me, we are totally for women's rights, because we want them to like us, so they go out with us. Please join up, we will take america by storm in 2008!! Strongbad for president! Homestarrunner forever!~!

I think you have to be liberal to a certain extent to deal with knickers and referees who decide your bout, who often have no idea what they're talking about, even at fencing's higher levels.
I'm sort of democrat-moderate, but I hate Bush. -

Array Figures. I just vote with the clear-cut, not bothering to make all sorts of distinctions and call myself "other". And who does that stick me with?
DFP and ReverseLunge. Whee. -

DFP and ReverseLunge. Whee. Well....we all know that other or something else basically means liberal, communist or chicken demorat. So you voted right.
I only put the 3rd choice so the demorats that are too scared to tell people what they are can vote. -

Array Other isn't always what we think it means. For instance, if you're doing a mortgage application and you put in that you're not specifying what race you are, the folks taking the application are required under the laws to fill it in for you as soon as you're not watching. Array Something Else This is a brief summary of things I feel strongly about:
I am not proud of my country, I'd rather be from mainland Europe
The flag of my country bothers me, I feel ashamed of it
High taxes are essential for good transport, police, health and education services.
Everyone has the right to these services, richer people should not have better healthcare/education etc.
Rich people should be more highly taxed than poor people
Gay people should have the same rights as straight, it's entirely natural to be gay
We really need to start thinking about the environment in a serious way
Rehabilitation of criminals is more important than punishment
Prevention fo crime, through benefits, education and rehab is essential
I have no religion, but I believe in a moral humanitarian code to live by, common sense to me really
Immigration rules should be slackened, we have to help the rest of the world by offering our hospitality
I live in Britain by the way, we have a party that's currently campaigning to seperate us from the European Union. Bah! These people are still in the mindset that Britain is an important country with an empire that we need to hang onto. Grrr. Everything is better in Europe, a lot of people here are just racist, and not willing to pay tax.
Without Europe we're nothing (ok that's an extreme opinion, but we do need to be part of something bigger to survive as a country economically)

Why? People don't deserve to be rich? You want to punish people for working hard and smart to make a good life for themselves and their future generation?
You dont know what freedom is I think.
