Swords may be more elegant, but you just can't argue with ranged weapons.

As noted by the shotgun to the chest in the beginning of the 2nd film.

Haven't seen the second one yet. I actually saw the first one on the night the second one came out; I really didn't like it.

In a thread about two movies that are part of series', which "second one" are you guys talking about?

I feel like el mariachi would probably win. That's an awesome fight to think about tho..

Oops, right - I was talking about Kill Bill. I really should see Desperado, though - I thought Once Upon A Time In Mexico was decent, but the fights were great.

I think desperado is definetly superior to once upon a time in mexico, in pretty much every regard.
I haven't seen the original El Mariachi yet, however.

Things are getting tense here. El is hiding behind a pew in a church, reloading his twin sawed offs, and the bride in striking a cool pose! El jumps out from behind the pew, shoots a round, the bride deflects it off her sword, it nearly hits el! he shoots a chandelier above the brides head, it falls, she catches it in mid air, and uses it as a shield against the oncoming shells! Its packed to the brim with excitement and mystery, with no clear end in sight! T

You have way to much time on your hands.

I'd love to see a shotgun blast deflected with a katana blade.
Maybe you could demonstrate for us?
