Can anyone tell me the specific name of this intrument? My girlfriend has played the flute for ages and really loved the sound of this flute. I'd really like to get hold of one for her somewhere.

its a chinese instrument called "Di zi", but I reckon people will know what you are talking about if you call it a chinese bamboo flute. As with all instruments there are different qualities and vocal ranges. Hope this helps.

Ah thank you, that is a great help. I'm in England currently so I'm not sure on my chances of finding one, but now I have a name to use while scouring all the oriental shops I can find, along with the net.
