Array The Running Thread! I just got in from my longest run ever (16 miles), and reaffirmed my love for this painful, badass sport! Anyone else on this board do much running? Come compare times! Tell your exciting running stories, anything goes!

Array Ah
Running is fun, I just don't take it very seriously.
Well done on 16 miles :-) There are no boundaries in love, there are no boundaries in Rock 'n' Roll -
kudos on the distance.
my knees don't like it when i run, they're worn out from martial arts. -

Array yeah, well I run with a track team, and do cross country in the fall so I better be able to do like 16 miles. . . Masterurethane, you get a reputation point for saying that running is fun! You're a wonderful person! Homestarrunner forever!~!

Array I used to love running--ran a marathon in 1976, and kept on doing long distance until a few years ago, despite my stocky build and asthma. My body just won't put up with it any more, though. I did a 7.5 mile race one time, which doesn't sound bad at all, until you consider the course. I don't think there was more than 200m of flat terrain in a row - hell, maybe in the whole thing. It was about forty degrees, going through forest, and in a lot of parts you had to use your hands to help pull yourself up.
Maybe not such an exciting story, but the race itself was. -

Array My longest run ever was 3 miles. I found it so boring that I swore I would never do it again. :P "That's hot." - Paris Hilton -

Array That's why you join a team, so you've got people to run with. Then it's much more fun.
Especially when it's the week leading up to the nearby college's homecoming, and your standard 5-mile route takes you straight down University Ave, aka Sorority Row... -

Array Ah, x-country, how I miss thee. I used to be on the team, but my HS is in boston, and some car-dodging occured. Now I fence. Good sport, tho. Still do ~10 miles/week to keep my leg muscles ballanced. I envy (odd, I know) the fact that you're in Vermont. So much beautiful trailrunning. I hate pavement. The only way to atone for being occasionally a little over-dressed is by being always absolutely over-educated. -Oscar Wilde Similar Threads -
