Ever played the PC game "Die By The Sword"? Die By The Sword (DBTS) got me somewhat interested in fencing. so i figured i could find some games that were like it from these forums. i was searching around these forums, trying out the fencing games suggested. and frankly, they really suck.
you have no control.
havn't you guys ever played Die By The Sword (DBTS)? in the game you control your sword directly, with the mouse or joystick, (nicknamed "VSIM" - Virtual Sword in Motion). swing you mouse to the right, the sword swings to the right. go in circles, the sword follows.
it's completely non-scripted, every move your sword makes is taken directly from your mousemovements, so every swing is unique.
also the sword will clang off, and be blocked by other weapons, so you can in theory have somewhat of a swordplay fencing match, with constant moves and countermoves. but i've havn't had much experience with that, mostly i just swing the sword wildly left and right, in a "grasscutting" kinda style, coz i'm dumb .
i can't believe i can't find mention of this game here. shame on you -n- stuff.
it's old, really old. here i found the demo (download link at bottom of page) (it may need to be run in win98 compatability mode).
or at least keep an eye out for it in bargin bins.
anyway, i gotta make sure... no-one has even HEARD of this game here right? bah! and you call yourself fencers.
try the demo, what are your thoughts? -

Array Dude! I played that game when it first came out! Still have it on my PC. Did you know there's a sequel to it as well? It's called "Limb from Limb", and lets you play as the girl or any of the characters, and lets you change weapons, shields, just about everything. That game rocks still, and it's about 6 years old! Ever play head to head? That's the most fun. A buddy of mine that used to be one of my fencing students lives about 4 miles from me, and we used to play head to head for hours on end. Loads of fun.
Oh, and if you'd been a member of this forum for as long as I have, you'd have seen it mentioned everytime we bring up video games!

Array Played it. It was difficult to get used to the sword moving and not your point of view (played a lot of FPS) An o.k. game, but now it won't work on my computer Quidquid latine dictum sit altum videtur

Ha ha. . . You see Roid, here we do the real thing. So, instead of sitting in front of a computer screen in your underwear, we're out there fencing; When you're cursing the living daylights out of the machine for not working, we're just changing tactics (or not, if you're me ). So, I've never played it, but i do fence, which i'm sure is comparable. Have fun swinging your mouse! -

Oh, and if you'd been a member of this forum for as long as I have, you'd have seen it mentioned everytime we bring up video games! yeah limb from limb is an expansion though. there was a sequal though, can't remember the name, it was only on the dreamcast and it sucked (didn't have VSIM, what's the point).
i sometiems play 4 player multiplayer DBTS, 4 player Ogre battles are the most hilarious thing, real side splitting rofl stuff. it's like you are hitting eachother with nuclear powered baseball bats.
as for my "bah, and you call yourself fencers?" i was tounge in cheek joking, sorry i'm used to more familure forums . i didn't consider that it may be mistaken for trolling, apologies. far from the truth.
Hillbilly, i'm not wearing underwear .
and i play the game with a P5 glove (and some very sloppy DBTS hacking), not a mouse. but the mouse is the next best thing.
a friend gave me the idea of searching for "fencing" in my endless search for fellow DBTS players. i hoped i would find some 1337 fencing games that were like DBTS in control method. but i was diapointed.
so ph34r my disapointment wrath, rawr ^_^
have i missed any cool fencing kidna games in my search? i only found Blademaster and H.F.A desktop fencing. and as far as real swordplay goes, i'd think that DTBS is hurdles ahead of even these newish games.
