Read the article this evening. Really good - wonder what the circulation is.
Those who get it should write to the magazine letting them know we appreciate the coverage.
ESPN generally writes good stories about all of them, this of course is no exception. i will try to get the pictures photo copied, they are really nice looking

funny thing you should bring up circulation...
If you want to show your appreciation in a more monitary form, and support umass fencing at the same time, you can print this form, mail it back to the UMass team and subscribe to the mag.
for $40, you get ESPN the Magazine for a year (26 issues) and as a free gift, subscriptions to two other magazines (Family Fun, Newsweek, Golf, Self, or GQ). of the $40, UMass fencing keeps $30.
If you don't want the magazines, you can feel free to mail the team a check anyway.

The Fencers Club boasts several members capable of reaching the final stages of a World Cup event: Ivan Lee, Herby Raynaud, Adam Crompton, Tim Hagamen.
I find the notable absence of Tim Morehouse odd - has he switched club affiliations when I turned my back? or is it just an oversight of the author? Surely our Olympic alternate should be considered as competent as those he beat out.

well, that depends on who you talk to. but, yes, I noticed that, too.
well, I wouldn't term it "competency". I don't think there's anybody who'd say he isn't "competent." But, yes, I was referring to the idea that he must be at least as good as those he beat out. His club affiliation is definitely still NYFC.
Tahnks to Shadow Hunter, and Mike....it's upside down, not that it really matters.
Somehow I doubt your printer will mind. If you do, I have a simple solution. After your printer is done, rotate the page before filling it out. :)
Craig- Circulation numbers were not included in the agate type with the information such as the various editors, etc. at the front of the magazine. Is this no longer a requirement for magazines?

Don't know if it's a requirement or not. Found a site that lists paid circulation for the top magazines. ESPN Mag has a paid circulation of 1.5 million.
I don't suppose anyone here bothered to ask ESPN magazine for permission to reprint that particular story product in its entirety?
when you say "anyone," it's only shadowhuntr who has to worry about it.
Seriously, though, from what I've seen, ESPN is fairly smart about what is and isn't worth pursuing. given the limited scope and readership of this board, the free publicity among a group which could easily be (but problably isn't currently) part of their core audience, and the fact that we've already posted a form for people to order the mag, I doubt they'll care.

Shadow, and the board manager who knows better and still allows it.
As for ESPN, "I doubt they'll care.": I agree. But a rule is a rule, and the person breaking that rule does so with the full understanding that enforcement is possible anyway. I'm just sayin' ...
I seriously doubt they would not care. Most of the big stories found in ESPN the Mag. are also found on the web at their website, but can only be accessed with a subscription to their "Insider" service, which you get with your subscription. This feature alone is an indication that they don't want their stuff reprinted at will on the net.
Further, I'd note that they are actually covering a lot of Olympic sports in The Mag. to a greater extent than any other magazine I've seen. I'd encourage you all to go out and get a subscription, which is pretty cheap - anywhere from 12-20 bucks, if you want to support the magazine and its writers - these are people trying to make a living, and posting the stories from their magazine, especially such an in depth feature story, on the web is clearly detrimental to that.
Maybe this is just my "just graduated, working for peanuts eating PB&J to make the ends meet" state of mind, but quite frankyl, I'm surprised that more people don't have a problem with the verbatim reporting of the article.
