    Eye of the Tiger

As this thread's title would seem to suggest, do any of you have a specific song that you play right before a bout or competition that "gets you pumped"?

Personal favorites: "the Goldberg Variations (J. S. Bach, Gould recording)", "Little Wing (Jimi Hendrix, I listen to it before every class)", Gimmie the Prize (Queen, if this song doesn't get you in a fight'n mood then nothing will)", and finally "Back in Black (AC/DC, bloody good song, whether you like Brian Johnson or not)"

I actually played Eye of the Tiger yesterday, right before I fenced to make top 2 in an open.... maybe the song doesn't get me pumped up, but it's fun to pretend..... I also sang it, but not so well.....

*******Wtf.... I got pinged for this........ **Shakes fist at computer**

Pale 3 - "Clubbed to Death"
System of a Down - "Aerials"
Linkin Park - "Forgotten" or "A Place for My Head" or "Nobody's Listening"

Igor Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" for early warmups, also Beehtovin's 9th and "O Fortuna"

    SoaD- "D-Devil", "Marmalade"

RAtM- "Sleep Now in the Fire"

And for a calming effect without losing the competative feel, "Imperial March" or a nifty remix thereof.

    "Tootsee Roll" by 69Boyzzzzzz

Loosens and Limbers me up before any competition. And then,

Tag Team's "Whomp, There It Is" to get me going!

My two best friends and I once walked into a tournament playing Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo child" on a boombox. Everyone thought it was pretty cool/funny.

I don't actually choose anything, but there are a few songs I'm pleased if I hear on thecarradio whilst driving to fencing. "Harder to Breathe" by Maroon 5 springs to mind, or "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand. Also "hey Ya" by Outkast.

If I was looking for something in particular, anything by Green Day would be good.

If I had a mp3 player before going I would definately say off the top of my head:

David Arnold / Aimee Mann : Nobody Does It Better
White Zombie - More Human Than Human
Aphex Twin - Widowlicker ( Because of that cool mercedes ad with fencing of course)
    Faith No More - Epic
Lenny Kravitz - Are you gonna go my way

    My 2004 National Champs playlist:

    Heartbreak Blues, Lightnin' Hopkins
    Mary, Jimi Hendrix
    Stairway to Heaven, Led Zeppelin
    Lose Yourself, Eminem
Since I've Been Loving You, Led Zeppelin
    Red House, Jimi Hendrix
    Dancing Days, Led Zeppelin
    Toreador, Bizet (Carmen)
Angel of Music, Anthony Llyodd Weber (Phantom of the Opera)
    One Headlight, Wallflowers
    Prettiest Thing, Norah Jones

There's a lot of blues influence. It keeps things down to Earth--the more acknowledgement of reality, the better I can analyze my opponent. There are a few songs to pump me up, but I try to have a few that are more relaxing (the last two are the slowest, in order to calm me down). I also chose songs that would instill confidence (sometimes I have a problem with that).
Don't let 'em drop it. Don'tlet'emdropit. Stop it... bebop it.

Depends on my mood before whatever sport I'm going to, also what cd's I have in my car. When I was like 10 I used to make my parents put Jock Jams in on the way to games.
I can do a lot of Shania Twain before games "Man I Feel Like A Woman" "Black Eyes Blue Tears"
Anything that says 'I'm here, I'm pumped' or 'Get outa my way before something bad happens'

    Gustav Holst's Mars
And, interestingly enough, Vivienne Mckone's Zero .

Dunno why, but both pieces make me want to go skewer something rather violenetly... good for epee, I guess.

calming effect? CALMING EFFECT? You're about to (symbolicly, anyway) take someones life and you wish to be CALM? As for me I listen to AC/DC "For Those About To Rock" or anything from "Dirty Deeds" and I would gladly slit your throat and dance in the puddle of blood if it helped me beat you. Of course once I got to 15 I'de be the first to call for a medic. You guys that fence with a relaxed distraction to it all fasinate me. How can you give your all if your method is to just not give a sh*t? I put EVERYTHING into a DE and at the end I'm sacked emotionally as well as phiysicly. I need the full ten minutes to get it all back lemmey tell you....

btw I'm sorry about the spelling....my wife is now in bed

You wouldn't happen to fence sabre would you? I need calm for my point control and tactics. Being jittery makes me miss, and missing gets me impaled. I'm sure someone here understands.

( not the underwear type...i suspect that could chaffe whilst lunging )

But I walk to the salle so no music for me, good thing really as I would be tralalalalaing during training and not concentrating much as i would like
