Array New Vniti Blade Hey, on Vniti's website I seen that they decreased the weight of their blades. Has anyone tried out these new blades if so what do you think about them? Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction.

Array I didn't know vniti itself had a website. . . Many companies sell Vniti blades: www.blue-gauntlet.com www.triplette.com etc. Homestarrunner forever!~!

Array www.sword-masters.com has them too. from what i have seen they probably have the best price on epees. But for foils, i got them from the fencing post for $56.00 a piece unwired (they were 73 minus a 20% discount). Also, triplette does not carry vnitis anymore. I emailed them about them and this is what i got in reply.
"jared, we don't do vniti because the price went up but the quality didn't. the bf made blades cost about the same, and are clearly better pieces by any measure.fie tests show they last longer, and over 80% of blades use in world championship competition are bf.
we do not want to be in the position of selling a product that we know is inferior unless we can explain that it is also less expensive, so the value is still good.
walter"
i do believe that, i think that they are saying that to sell more of their triplette BF blades but i could be wrong. at any rate, they better stop advertising vniti blades then. Array Saul does not list them on the website as he only carries a small supply at any time for diehard Vniti lovers such as myself. If you call and ask he will fess up to selling them but I get the impression he would much rather sell you an LP or an Uhlmann so that may be another reason he does not list them. The fencing post is a great place to get them however since he is very picky in his quality control and looks over the blades as they come in. He has told me he has sent back entire shipments before because of problems with blades or gear.
As such I tend to trust him on my orders and the Fencing Post is probably my favorite place to order from. Another tip if you like Uhlmann or StM blades for a weapon other than foil he does not list the colored blades but if you ask him he will usually accomadate you and often for no extra charge! He will also select a level of flexability for you if you tell him what you would like.
Wow, I did not mean for this to turn into and Infomercial for the Fencing Post. Sorry about that but I hope the info helps! Just another lost soul saved by the (hit) First Church of EPEE!

While we're at it... why doesn't vniti make sabre blades? -
Senior Member
Array because no one fences sabre :P. naw j/k. i dunno, i noticed that a lot of companies that make f/e blades dont make sabre. i could be wrong though "When my time on earth is gone, and my activies here are passed. I want they bury me upside-down, and my critics can kiss me @$$."

Originally Posted by ShadowHuntr because no one fences sabre :P. naw j/k. i dunno, i noticed that a lot of companies that make f/e blades dont make sabre. i could be wrong though The reason why is that the FIE doesn't issue homolgation certificates for sabre blades, and doesn't require them to be of maraging or equivalent steel for 'A' grade competitions. There are a few companies that do make maraging sabre blades (which vendors often erroneously label as "FIE" sabre blades). The general consensus, though, seems to be that for sabre the maraging blades don't offer enough of a durability increase to justify the cost. A good number of top sabre fencers here in the US use inexpensive BG or Ukranian blades.

All of their forge time is consumed making foil and epee blades, and they have told him to hold back ordering large quantities.
Since the demise of France Lame, there has been a shortage of Maraging blades on the market. Even though Prieur bought them, it appears as though they are still laging behind in bringing the plant back on line at full capacity. It could be that they, being very arragant, told Mr. Hoston to take a walk and the employees, who don't like the people who run Prieur anyway, decided to not do all that they are suppose to do. You have to know the French, they are a very fickled bunch of people.
Oh, and by the way I stock them also

Some companies, like the above mentioned one, stopped carrying Vniti blades because they would now have to buy them from Vniti-USA, instead of direct from the plant. This made some people, like the owner of the above mentioned company, angry. So they decided to start a negetive campaigne against the Vniti blades, trying to hurt the sales of Vniti-USA. In my opinion, A. it hasnt worked and B. Vniti blades will out last any BF on the market used by any fencer on the planet - they are just that good. oxxx[[======================= \\Toll Free 866-SWORD4U Slay more with a Claymore -

Array sounds like a plan. . . As long as you give me all those FIE foil blades free of charge. . . Homestarrunner forever!~!

No that wouldnt do it...you would have to have NAME recognition...which takes years to develop (believe me I know!) or you would have to do as The One suggests and give them away, of course some large guy that speaks Russian will be looking to talk with you, since a large part of the FIE blades are coming out of that part of the world. oxxx[[======================= \\Toll Free 866-SWORD4U Slay more with a Claymore -
