    Fencing concert

What if we could get a band to play at an auditorium while people fence at a tournament... y'know, maiden, metallica, the offspring, linkin park, ozzy... something. It would attract the media attention.
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben

We had that before, a few people with instruments were waiting for a ride home at our school, and decided to play something while we bouted.

It was pretty cool. We usually have Iron Maiden songs going though, like "Flash of the Blade" and "The Duellist". Good fencing songs.

...and very probably distract the fencers attention from the actual fencing...

I know atleast I would be distracted.

What, the musical clash of steel is not pleasent enough?

Actually my point is that good fencing can be very noisy... especially if you've got sabres on your hand. So unless you crank up the amp so much that the bellguards are shaking off, music is hard to have while fencing and still have both be entertaining.

Yeah... and it would be very distracting for the fencers and the bout directors. You can't forget about them. I can't hear the calls without music and at the end of the week there would be a whole lot of hoarse coaches, fencers, spectators, and bout directors.

you guys know that maiden's singer is a fencer, or was a fencer. but yes i agree nothing goes better with swordplay than alittle heavy metal. BUT NO LINKIN PARK, beacuse they suck. the song that makes me think of fencing is 'tallica's version of Whiskey in the Jar. mmmm metallica

Actually, as far as actual weapon noise goes, I'd say epee is the loudest. More blade contact, lots of resonating(flick that lands on guard anyone?).
In sabre it's usually just 2 or 3 clicks.

Now, if you want to talk about noise made by the fencers themselves...well, it's been done to death and I agree with the majority that the womens foilists are the loudest shriekers.
