    Pulled a Tendon...

    I have no idea how I did this, or even if I did it in fencing, but I tell ya, it really affects my lunges. I somehow managed to pull my tendon in my upper inside leg (back leg). You know the one by the groin? Yes, I can't lunge very far right now because of it. Has anybody else pulled this tendon? And how on earth do you make it go away? It's been sore for about a week and a half now.

    Thats what I was talking about on my other thread... its been bothering me for about a month or two... does it feel like something is getting pulled to far when you lunge, especially on the recover? If so, you have what I have. I need a doctor to diagnose me, because all the aspirin-anti inflamatory-stretching-take it easy crap just isnt working for me. The only thing that works for me is to ignore it... easier said than done.

    Kismet is talking about a groin pull - you mentioned back of thigh / butt. They are different...anyway;
    If its bothering you for a month now, I don't think you can claim that ignoring it is working. If you have a slight tear, ignoring it only prevents it from healing as you continue to retear it over and over. Until its healed, stretching it won't help either. Eventually it will get worse, and one day you may slip or lose control or do something unplanned and possibly tear it completely. Then you will be screwed for 8 months of no fencing.

    Your machismo is remarkable for such a young person - bordering on stupidity. If there is one thing any athlete must master early and completely it is taking care of your body correctly. If in the absence of a coach, trainer or doctor, you don't at least try to educate yourself then you are really missing an opportunity. You have net access - figure out how to care for your injury - not ignore it.

    Improving your knowledge of body mechanics, how muscles work, how to train, and how to get over the inevitable injuries that all athletes incur will only make you a better fencer in the long run.

    In the time you have been posting here, you have complained and asked for input about your knees, about your back, about a pulled muscle, and have demonstrated little common sense about... oh, nevermind. I don't even know why I bother to reply...I'm glad I don't know you in person - it would be all too frustrating just watching you struggle with yourself. I give up.
