| My Parent's Ultimatium - NOOOOOO Well the Australian U17 champs are coming up next holidays. it's at sydney and im in Brisbane. We're going as a school. Cost : $600!!!!
ow i dont know about the rest of you people, but 600 dollars is quiet a lot. My parents are willing to pay for me IF i make it into the Grammar A team. which is basically the state team. Next year i have a chance of making the A team but this year is a longshot.
My plan was to go down to sydney by myself. somehow rent a place for the week. The only thing is, it'll be crap if i was by myself. What do you guys think? i can get things done for under 400? it's only an 1 week trip. |

| AVOID THE LIBERTY PLAINS! Its the most hideous motel known to man....it may be walking distance but it is EVIL!
As for your parents, talk to them...tell em its important. See if QAFA wont give you some money (provided they have found the treasurer).
Besides havent they changed it so each state only has one school????

| If your parents can't pay for it, I would suggest you start fundraising. You can try selling candy, doing car washes, or even asking local businesses for their support.
Fundraising got me to all my JO's back in high school, even with my poor parents.

| Grade 11, every piece of work now counts towards my OP score in end of grade 12 and the comp is the coming holidays.
well ive looked at virgin airlines and saw that the tickets were avaible at that time for 69 dollars return! i really dont see how they can spend the other $531 on hotels. i might have to give this year a miss and go next year. Since ill still be 17 next january.
as for the treasurer, i haven't seen Preston for a while, wonder when he went. |

| ITS holidays. trust me its quite easy to spend 531 dollars on accomadation around Sydney. I always had to budget at least a 1000 dollars for nationals and other comps - Airfare, accomadation, food, t-shirts etc etc. However I only need accomadation in 2 cities (Melbourne and Adelaide).
If you are just going to do u/17 without the schools you can fly down the day before, fence, and fly home late that night or early next morning on a VB cheapo. Total cost approx $200-300 including entry and food.

I know several people who are opening their homes to other fencers.... can't say that I'm willing to let a complete stranger stay in home... maybe next under 17s
