Array White Tip Tape Out of curiosity, is there a reason white tip tape is rarely used? athlete /ath'leet/ n.

Array Some believe (and cite studies to back them up) that brightly colored tip tape speeds up your opponent's reaction time because he or she can see the tip coming.
Others just think it looks obnoxious. I'm with them; I prefer neon yellow.
Or, there may be a rule somewhere that forbids white tip tape, though I honestly don't believe there is. -

Array Another point of view is that its more important for the Ref to see your tip clearly to determine the clarity of your action. The blurred trail that is left by the persistance of vision effect can be crucial to the referee's perception of an action that is otherwise too fast to see. The opponent isn't fencing against the tip - he's fencing against the whole person and the position of the entire weapon, arm, and body. If your actions are cued by the tip - its probably too late... -

That is intresting. I'll have to remember that bit the next time somebody asks this particular question. Originally Posted by downunder nope, there isn't Thanks, I didn't think there was. -

Array Use whatever color your lame is. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

Array I wonder if you're allowed to do white and black stripes. Stripes supposedly throw off depth perception... The only way to atone for being occasionally a little over-dressed is by being always absolutely over-educated. -Oscar Wilde -

Array i use white tip tape and no one has ever said anything and my coach is the certified referee trainer for the division so it is legal. "When my time on earth is gone, and my activies here are passed. I want they bury me upside-down, and my critics can kiss me @$$."
