fit of orthopedic grip

Because I don't like having my foil swatted from my hand, I'm reluctantly changing from French grip to orthopedic. I've been borrowing different foils with ortho grips, but none seem to fit. My fingers just don't conform to the indentations and feel unnaturally stretched and confined. I hate the Belgian with the little thing (trigger?) between my aides; Visconti is tolerable only. Maybe a Russian grip would be best? Or Hungarian? The problem is, I have to buy this by mail order. How can I get a good fit?

The russian grip is the most similiar to the french grip in terms of the pistol grip (that is if you can stand that little block poking the palm). Its relatively smooth with no indentations and its a pretty heavy grip with most of the weight in the back so its balances somewhat like french grip. What I have seen some people do is cut the squarish block part down for a better fit.

See if you can find someone with a german grip. It's like a belgian done right.
One of the...indentation thingies(technical term) is moved in closer so there's alot more power to the grip, and it fits in the hand nicer I think.
When I say there's no power, a friend of mine fences epee and his coach recently convinced him to switch to german from belgian. Same blade, guard and everything, with a different grip I can snap my wrist and bend the blade into a flick pretty easily, compared with the effort it took before.
Same exact blade. To explain the mechanics of how this happens I couldnt. But it's nice.

Call Cole at American Fencers Supply and ask him to adapt a Belgian grip into what's called an American grip. He just did one for me. It's the only orthopedic grip my arthritic fingers can tolerate. (All that needs to be done is to whack off that big rear prong from the Belgian and smooth it down.)
