| Get a rethread tap and rethread the threads. Or, buy a new tip.

| If the treads are stripped I think your only option is to replace the tip. You would be putting more time and effort than it is worth into trying to repair a replaceable part.

Unless you just love to tinker with stuff and/or have really tight budget, just go buy another tip.

It won't work - don't bother. Replace the tip. |

| I'll beat Don Clinton to this one...until you get a new tip (the best and easiest option), get a small supply of British epee screws...they can fit into the stripped German or French screw holes as a quick fix... |

One is a relable fix the other is a patch. |

Originally Posted by mifencer Would lock-tite work in this situation, until the tip can be replaced by a new tip? | i have actualy tried this, i very carefuly applied a very, very small drop to the screw, and very, very carefuly put the screw in with out it touching the barrel or anything else. all it did was gum up the tip and barrel. the screw still few out after a few bouts. the lock-tite was very hard to clean out. i found the best way to deal with the screws is to get a new tip, then whenever you put a screw in, pay attention to getting it in straight and do not overtighten, this was my problem, once i replaced my tips and did not overtighten the screws, i very rarely loose them. it also helps to check to make sure the screws do not become loose after each bout |

I was just wondering and your explanation makes a lot of sense. |

It is fairly easy to break the bond without shearing of the head of the screw.
I agree with the Purple Fencer though, try British Epee Screws. They have a class A thread profile and will usually bite into the damage hole providing a secure solution to the problem.
