Array Fencing Shoe Question I'm getting some new fencing shoes soon and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. See, my D'Artagnan's are too narrow for my feet and I want to see if there was a type of shoe that was wider. The shoes I have now are slowly doing damage to my toes because they are so bunched up when I wear them.
I just don't want to blindly buy a new pair and have the same problem. Thanks in advance for your help!

Array Alternatively you could go for Li Ning (If I'm not wrong) fencing shoes. The quality is excellent and affordable. "Man is how he behaves sword in hand."

On a related note, does anyone know if Adidas is developing a new shoe? Someone at my club said something about Adidas making new fencing shoes every Olympic year. Whether or not they're making this up, I don't know. I am also in the market for new shoes, but don't really want to get the Equipment shoes if there's a new model coming out that might be better. Thanks!

Array The kids at our club were told by the USFA that Adidas is developing a new fencing shoe. The members of the US National Team for the Cadet/Junior World Championships were supposed to be supplied shoes in addition to the other goodies, but they were backordered. As a consolation prize, they're supposed to be getting the "new" version instead.
No one was told what the new version entails. "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

Array I'm not sure about a new addisas shoe but that would be great. I love the ones I have now.. I wonder what changes they will make.
One of the things that I suggest when looking at shoes is to WAIT. Till you are at a NAC or National event and that you should go and try on the shoes before you buy them. Look at the pros and cons and see which one looks and feels the best for you.
My preference has alway been addisas but that's just me..... -

Array there will be new shoes coming out just before the olympics, brands to replace the d'arts and the Equipment ones. However the word is that the replaced equipment ones will no longer be assymetric -

Array There was one of the "new pairs" of the Addidas shoes at the club last night.
The wearer did not like them much. They were hot, have a lot of plastic, are stiff with narrow toes. The old As metrics were much better according to the wearer. A friend will bail you out of jail,

Array My old Blue Gauntlets (my first pair of fencing shoes! *sniff*) were full of holes, so I ordered the new Adidas...it took me a while to find them, you'll probably still find them in the new classics section. They're white with 3 stripes in royal blue or a medium gold. They have VERY grippy soles with 3 holes for some reason (it's a good one, but I forget it). I have very narrow, flat feet, so had been advised not to get the asymmetrical adidas. These are quite narrow and fit very well, but the insoles are attached, so I'm not quite sure how I'm going to get my orthotics in. They're a lot cheaper than the asymmetricals (they're 100 dollars) and so far I have been quite happy with them...they seem to offer adequate support even for me, and are comfortable. I guess it depends on the shape of your foot: if you have very wide feet and toes, you probably won't be very happy with these, but if you have narrow to medium feet they should fit fine. "Contrariwise," continued Tweedledee, "if it was so, it might be: and if it were so, it would be: but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic." -

no worries
i believe electricepeeist is referring to these shoes which are indeed still on sale in the originals store for adidas. i'm nearly positive that they aren't the 'new' shoe from adidas. -

Array indeed they are...hey, I didn't get the best shoes? My coach told me they were the newest! I hadn't heard of these new-new adidas, but a few of the very good fencers at my club have the same shoes I do, and most of them like them...
