    Sad news!

    Dear all,

After the next couple of days, my posts are going to be substantially less frequent, I'm sad to say. My laptop here at home isn't really mine; my friend lent it to me and now she needs it back. I had hope to have it a bit longer until I had saved up to buy my own, but it was not to be.
I have the interweb at work but they are currently getting very strict about personal use, so I will have to restrict myself to a quick visit two or three times a week really.

Hopefully something will come up, but in the meantime don't worry, I still love you all and I haven't deserted you, I'll just be around less!!

    Thanks guys!

OK, this is just getting silly now. I don't know if it's because of imminent computer loss, or because it's raining and I'm fed up of decorating and I've nothing to do tonight and I'm lonely, or because of, erm, ladies' medication , or because my boyfriend has been in the US for a week and isn't back for a week so not even so much as a phone call (too dear), or what, but I have just burst into tears all over the place.

Sorry about the shameless sympathy request, but I really mean it when I say

Are you referencing the library as a place to read books????? or, at our Public Libraries there are internet connected computers which the patrons are allowed to use for free, including for email and bulletin boards and research.

Lou, Inq has an idea there. You can go to the library and keep in touch that way! And you can read a book to if you get to feeling comfy in there.

Yes, the latter. When last I was between jobs I had recourse to the library's computer terminals, which have internet access, to keep in the loop...

An excellent point. Unfortunately my local library is shut for several months for refurbishment, and I don't even know when it's due to re-open. Just my luck. Ho hum.
Oh well, so long as I am restrained I can post from work once in a while so it could be worse.

Oh bloody hell, it just gets worse!

    1) My car had to go in for its MOT (£40) and will need at least £200 of work to pass (awaiting final quote even as I type).

    2) I need to renew my passport (£42) and include ugly photos with the application (£3.50 and I don't even look nice!).

    3) A friend has just emailed me to remind him that I owe him £43 for a red hot chilli peppers ticket

    4) The friend who lent me her laptop and who has recently reclaimed it, has just emailed me asking about an alleged "large crack" in the top. I checked it over before I put it in the case to give back, and even gave the top (where she says the crack is) a gentle wipe to get rid of fingermarks, so I'd have noticed a crack. And there wasn't one. Whether she'll ever believe me is another matter.

    5) I forgot my packed lunch.

    6) I got rained on going out at lunchtime.

    7) All three lifts in my office are broken and I work on the fourth floor (= the fifth floor to most of you as ours go ground, first, second, etc.).

I am just going to nip off and shoot myself... No, but seriously, I do want to go and hide in a nice quiet hole somewhere.

Sorry for whinging at you all again, but some days are just a waste of make-up...

No louweasel, dont go! I am madly in love with you! I have feelings for you! I could not bare to see us part.....just kidding But the old crack in the laptop trick, its an old one, I have been the cracked and the crackee. Chances are, your friend wants a new laptop on your money. If you offer to buy them a new laptop the same as the one they have, they will reject, they want the bigger and better deal.

Ah, you've noticed! That's the first sign of encroaching wisdom, really...

Egad! I hope they were REALLY good seats!

Come now, this one is a stretch! I mean, you're in the British Isles, this was almost a certainty!

I don't know how to type between quotations like you so I hope you can keep track...

    1) If you wish to judge, there is a photo on my user profile. Even though it's cropped (to protect my superhero identity ) it still looks betterthan the ones I've just sent to the UK passport agency.

    2) That price is about right, considering it's a major band like the chillis, they haven't been here for years and they're only doing about two dates. (btw it's in june so I've not been yet) For comparison, I note from a website that fifty cent is only doing three dates and it would cost you £31.50 to see him, including booking fee.

    3) you're so right. I should have got her to check it over and sign a document confirming its condition...*shakes head in despair*

    4) Yes but it was dry all morning and all afternoon - it only rained when I went out.

Anyway, I am having a better day today - boyfriend back from the states and seeing him tomorrow, and the car wasn't as dear as I thought - £180 all in including the MOT.

Oh my god. And I thought my luck was bad...

As for your friend... Money is one of the most divisive issues. Thankfully I've never had to fight with any of my friends about money.

As for the pic, you look alright [] to me. I suppose you could be missing the bottom half of your head - it's difficult to tell.

£43 for RHCP tix!!!!! They must have seen you coming! I hope you got a backstage pass thrown in for that.

    News from me today.

The girlfriend [aka The Fencing Widow] is off to London today. Been looking forward to getting the flat to myself all week. Now that I have the flat to myself I don't know whether to:
    • Go out and get p*****
    • Play computer games all night
    • Watch DVD's all night
    • Do fitness work and eat salad
    • Eat a ton of Junk Food.
    • All of the above in some unholy orgy of self destruction!

Whereas I wouldn't even pay his eponymous amount for the chance...

    4) Yes but it was dry all morning and all afternoon
In England? In May? Pull the other one!

Anyway, glad things are looking up. Now if you'd just switch to sabre, God's favoured weapon, I'm sure that the Universe would smile upon you more regularly...

Oh I know, I never thought money would be involved with this! I still hope it won't be. After all, I didn't damage the sodding thing and besides, only one of us has an enormous trust fund and it's not me.

    Such a sweet compliment - I'm touched!

Do you know how quickly those tickets sold out and how hard it was to get them?! My friend was on the phone from the minute they went on sale at 9am, spent nearly two hours trying to get through and they were all gone by lunchtime! I'm sure if she could have got cheaper ones, she would have. They were just under 40 quid I think, plus booking fee (which I always think is a huge rip off).

As for your weekend, I would do all of the above except the fitness/salad one - you might as well do this sort of thing when your girlfriend is about, in order to impress her.
Tips: Clear up the detritus from your junk food or you'll be in trouble when she gets back, and find something to fix around the house to demonstrate your manly usefulness and show you have not wasted the whole weekend.
Most importantly, when she returns, remember to tell her you missed her and it's good to have her back. We girls like that even if you think it's soppy!

Ooh, the cheek of you! It was 20 degrees celsius over the weekend, I'll have you know! I was sitting in the park wearing only a t-shirt! (on my top half that is, obviously I had some other clothes elsewhere )

Give me a chance, I've only been fencing foil for a year! I haven't even got most of my own kit for that yet and I certainly can't afford to fork out for sabre stuff as well. Unless you want to buy it for me! *bats eyelashes in pleading manner*
