Are their any books on weapons maintenance.

I would like to take responsibility for maintaining my own weapons rather than rely on the armorer that visits my club. Are there any books available that address this subject? Thanks!

I can tell you that Santelli sells Rudy Volkman's manual. Between that and talking to veteren fencers at my club, I am competent to easily wire my own weapons and I can troubleshoot them to an extent.

I'll vouch for the Volkmann book...between that and armoring at the Long Beach Invitational a couple of years back I'm at least OK with weapons and body cords.

The book you mentioned as being Rudy's is his Big Book of Fencing, not the repair manual. The one you say as Another is probably Rudy's repair manual. From the cover, it appears to be. BG is only selling one manual.

There's always the Canadian Fencing Federation's armourer's manual:

The Volkmann book on repair is good, although to be fair, it's not really a 'book', more like a manual, photocopied, stapled together. there's probably not enough demand for a full armoury book... but that would be really cool...

kalivor - thanks for the link to the canadian manual. i always like to read how other armourers do things. you never know when you'll learn a new trick or two...

The canadian Armourer's manual looks like it was written as study material for a test. This would be perfect for building up an armoury training course and exam. Many thanks.
