Array this is what happens when you give a three year old a camera. Fencing will always be a "for love of the game" sport.

Corrected link Sorry for the mistaken link to the same photo. Both sets are the start of a series, so click on the arrow at the upper right. All 8 photos which include both the S-curve and flick studies can be scrolled through from any point.
Here's the link to one of the S-curve shots. Does it look posed? S-curve photo -

Array Okay, that S-curve photo is cool. I'd like to see more freeze frame photos like these. It makes fencing look real cool.

No, that one does not look posed. Much less distracting background as well.
The comments about the first one (wider aperture, etc) were because it did look posed and if you were trying to promote with it, I would have made a few changes. Not trying to take anything away from it, just suggestions.
In 30 years of fencing, I can count the number of really good fencing photos on two hands. Don't know why, other than the lack of pro sports photogs actually working the events and knowing what to shoot. Click on the arrows, read the captions The flick photos are part of an informal study of flick timing, as discussed in the captions. The S-curves are an effect that occurs only during some thrusting impacts. Again, read the captions, they're interesting. AND CLICK THE ARROWS! -
Looking at the tigermountain web site, I find the last sentence on the home page funny. "I don't think I want to be associated with those people, and how do they stay in business anyway?? They should be in jail by now." Originally Posted by bernard c Here is Tiger Mountain Photos website. http://www.tigermountainphoto.com/
Click on Galleries to see their fencing photos. How do their best action photos compare to the ones I've linked on the second post of this thread? -

Array Tiger Mountain does a fine job capturing lively fencing and their photos are high quality and interesting to any fencer. As a photographer I always wondered how Serge got to where he and his company are in the fencing community. Apparently he found a niche and went for it. I wonder how much of his personal fortune went to creating the portfolio to get into the position he is in. For any serious photographer access and opportunity are probably top on my list as success measure potential and somehow he managed to be there to get the shots. Nonetheless more power to him.
I suspect Brentwood Imaging was selected for marketing photo purposes strictly where knowledge and expertise of the activity isn't important. Their work will probably be just portraiture (still life) initially. Look out though Serge.
I am cynical to a point and wonder who the principals are at Brentwood and whether there is any prior existing USFA relationship...

USFA Olympic Picture If the official photographers took the USFA Official Olympic picture on the USFA webisite they did a lousy job. It was way too dark. I could understand if they were wearing white, but they were wearing dark colors and some of the faces did not even show.
Is Proprint make money from part of the photo packages?? -
Assoc Press Just noticed the picture mentions a photographer from the Associate Press took the shot. HMMMM Shame on him. -
