I woke up. Head Hurt. Looked at my watch. Three. Head Hurt. Stood up. Head hurt. Walked to the bathroom. Stared at the toilet. I didn't know which end belonged. Head hurt. Stared into the bowl. It was an idol. Head Hurt. I kneeled before it. Gagged. Head hurt. Did my buisiness. Got up. Head Hurt less.
Took a cold shower. It woke me up. I didn't remember the last night. I know I met some people after dinner, and we went somewhere. We did something at that somewhere. Brushed my teeth. Head hurt. I remember being unhappy. I don't remember why. I got dressed, in worn-down tight blue-jeans and a black shirt. Threw on my beaten leather shoes. i left. I wanted to take a walk. Head hurt.
I walked down the halls. People stared at me. Head Hurt I was very pale. The light hurt. My head hurt. I ran into a person from yesterday. Forgot their name. I didn't want to talk, but they greeted me.
"Alex, you look like ****. What happened?"

Contrary to what she had hoped, Chelsea had slept in. Luckly, she was only five minutes late to her first class and her professor hadn't started talking yet. The rest of her day seemed to go down hill. It seemem that everything that could go wrong did, she got lost going to her second class and was therefore late for that one. Which caused getting on the bad side of her proffessor, the list of things just went on. She had gone to the gallery to grab some lunch and had chocolate milk get spilt all down her favorite white shirt. So she made her way back to the dorms and into the elevator. She pushed her floor number and then leaned back against the wall with a heavy sigh as she brushed her hair out of her face.

Reaching her floor, Chelsea stepped out of the elevator and promptly tripped on the rug infront of it. She hit the ground face first and groaned as she rolled over. A feeling hit her that she hadn't felt since she was a little girl, she was ready to cry.

Josh awoke to the sound of his cell phone alarm clock. This time he was not going to be late for Russian. It didn’t score too many points with Doctor Vrachevna. She forgave his tardiness once, and he didn’t want to push her mercy twice. He rolled out of bed . . . literally, landing straight on his back. The groan that emanated from him was thankfully, not loud enough to wake Mike, if he was up there to begin with.
He readied for class, and he quickly realized that his attitude was very mellow this morning. He didn’t know what to think, after yesterday, everything was happening so fast. His first reaction was to pull back, he wasn’t sure she’d be able to understand any of this, which is why he wanted some time to himself.
And so he rushed to Russian.
The lesson went quickly. Josh always knew he had a gift for pronunciation, but now he had to figure out what the heck he was saying. The class was small, only about 8 people, he figured half of them would drop because they were taking it because of “general interest”. Josh, however, knew he was in for the long haul.
It was Josh’s turn to recite the alphabet. He droned on right through it. Doctor Vrachevna was impressed but the compliment met Josh with shallow accomplishment.

Getting to her feet, Chelsea examined the rather large rug burn on her forearm and shook her head. Once she got to her door, she realized that she didn't have her bag with her, which meant she didn't have her key.
"What did I do to deserve all of this?" She asked noone as she made her way back to the elevator.
She raised an eyebrow at Alex as he leaned against a wall, talking to someone. He looked like crap.
She kicked the rug that she tripped on a few times as she waited for the elevator to come back up. She ducked her head to keep from having to make small talk with whoever was getting off the elevator and quickly stepped in.
She left the building and shoved her hands into ehr pant pockets as she walked back accross campus. She kept her head down a little to try and ignore the stares she was getting for her chocolate and white shirt.

Chelsea had made it to the room she had left her bag in and back out of the building when the bell tower in the middle of campus began to yell at her that it was twelve o'clock. She was late for her third class.
"Great!" She cried out loud, getting more funny looks.
Trowing her bag over her shoulder, she quickly ran to her class that just happened to be in the opposite corner from where she was.
She tried to sneak into her class and sit in the back, but her professor saw her.
"You're late." He called up to her from the bottom of the stadium style classroom.
"Yes sir, I'm so very sorry I . ."
"I don't want your excuses." He snapped. "I do not tollerate tardiness and the only reasonable excuse is a broken limb or a life or death matter. Which you seem to be in jeapordy of neither. Now you show up to class on time or don't bother." He lectured.
"It wont happen again sir." She replied meekly and turned to sit in an open chair.
"What is your name?" He called to her again.
"Chelsea Rodgers." She stated.
"Well Miss Rodgers, you must have something wrong with your ears as well as your feet. That or you're simply ignorant. I said get here on time or don't bother. You were late so don't bother."
"I'm . ."
"That means get out!" He snapped.
Her jaw dropped and she stared at him for a moment before she snatched up her bag and walked out. Once the door shut behind her, she leand an arm against the wall and her head against her arm.
"Chelsea?" A voice asked timidly from behind her.
She turned her head to see Josh, just before tears blured her vision. Emberassingly, one slipped down her cheek.
Josh stood for a minute, torn between his unsteadiness about where they were heading and the fact that he should comfort her. His chivalry won and he moved closer, wrapping Chelsea in a hug.
Chelsea hugged him back and tried to stop crying, but his hug seemed to tell her to let it go. So she did.

"NO, I don't write for the Post.... I'd rather sit idle than write for that trash."
I couldn't remember their name. My head hurt, but I was offended and had a point to make.

As Josh held her in his arms all the hesitation he had been dwelling on faded away. Emotionally drained, she wept in his arms for moment after moment. He whispered some comforting words to her as she wept but didn’t know what had pushed her to this extreme. Whatever it was he didn’t care, she needed him.
He pulled her back from his shoulder, gently, and looked into her big, pretty, tear drenched eyes. “What’s wrong darlin?” he asked, softly. “I think we need to find you a bench or something where you can sit down.” She nodded and they headed towards a bench in the ornate English hall. This college definitely had some rich alumni.
“Now then.” he started, sitting her down. He crouched down in front of her on one knee and gently brushed a tear away from her cheek with his thumb. “What got you this down in the dumps today?”

"Everything seems to be going awful today. I over slept, I got in the bad side of my second professor," She pulled her shirt out a little and looked down at it. "Some oaf spilt his chocolate milk all voer my favorite shirt, I left my bag in my second class, was late to my third, where my proffesor just kicked me out and called me ignorant." She dropped her head into her hands. "Maybe I should have listened to my grandmother and stayed in London."

"You know- I'm very mad at things the way they are now. Nobody reads anything but trash. How is it that everyone knows Dan Brown, and nobody knows Umberto Eco. We're in a goddamn university here. I wish somebody would stand up and do something about it"

“Hmm.” said Josh, thinking out loud. “You know what I think might cheer you up? A smoothie. The cafeteria’s right near here and there’s a smoothie stand that I heard is pretty good.” He smiled warmly, trying his best to cheer her up.

"A What?" She asked, pulling her head up. "I don't believe I've ever heard of a . . smoothie before." She sniffed and wished she carried tissue with her.

Josh laughed. There never was a dull moment with this girl. "You've never heard of a smoothie? Well it's high time you found out, Chelsea. They're delicious. I think they have milk shakes, too, if you're not in the mood to be adventurous."

"Well not much else can go wrong today and I already have one drink on my shirt, so why not be adventurous." She sighed, and attempted to brush her tears away before Josh stood and offered her his hand to help her up, she took it and tried to offer him a smile. It wasn't a very good one.
She kept her head down for a little ways has they walked.
"Thank you Josh." She offered softly.

"You can thank me by trying a smoothie." he winked at her. "I'm turning out to be your American tour guide aint I?" he put on his best cheesey tour guide voice. "And to your left you have a Wal-Mart ladies and gentlemen, get your cameras ready. And over here you have the American smoothie stand."

Chelsea laughed.
"We still need to see that Wal-Mart of yours. I fear I'll turn into a stiff board if I don't get any sheets or pillows." She replied. It was then she noticed that her hand was still in his and had absolutely no idea how to react to it.
"Erm so what do these smoothies have in them?" She tried to cover for her pause and most likely quick intake of breath that had to have come after the realization of it.

"Umm....fruit juice?" he said. Then a smirk appeared on his face and he added "I dunno, I've never hand one either. Always been a milkshake man, myself." He noticed the were still holding hands . . . he didn't let go.

"Wait, you've never had a smoothie and yet you say they're delicious? You're going to have to explain yoru reasoning to me on that one hon." She grinned.
Josh was making it very easy for her to forget her day thus far. The pleasant way that her hand fit just right in his was helping as well.
They reached the stand and Chelsea scrunched up her nose getting very skeptical about the whole idea as she read the menu.
