The Real World II

[Darion McNair]

"If you try one then I will too. I'll forgo my favorite Oreo Cream milkshake just for you." he told her as he looked over the menu, squeezing her hand a little.

She smiled with a bit of a blush.
"Alright, I haven't had a mango in some time, so I guess I'll try the er . . Mango-A-Go-Go." She shrugged and then with a little hesitation laced her fingers through his.

The food had been ok. She'd had better. After eating she really just felt wiped out, no point in staying around there and talking to no one, so it was to her bed that she made her escape. Waking up that morning had been difficult, as always. She didn't even bother to "do" her hair, considering that it was a permanent mess anyway. A-lex was in a hall, looking like he'd been run over a few times after being chewed on by a giant. Hmmm, must be a hang-over She walked over. And handed him some excedrin. "It might help." And on off to the elevator she went. He probably would just throw them away and suffer. Most people didn't accept things from her, she just didnt look like the person to take things from. So she went on to her English class, the worst one of the day.

After the others had left the cafe, Lyn & Mike stared at one another, daring the other to leave. Yet something, whether it be morbid curiosity or just plain pigheadedness, kept them there. "What do you want?" she repeated as he quirked an eyebrow at her.

"I'd like to know why you have green hair," he admitted.

She raised her chin. "I had to dye it for a show. It never came out."

"Really? Tell me about it."

So, she did.

Chelsea had left her wallet in her room, but had luckly left a five in her pocket from her hurried breakfast that morning. They ordered their smoothies and then started to slowly walk around campus. Chelsea had a hard time of getting her first few sips through the straw, but soon began to get the hang of it.

"Not too bad," she nodded, "definately a new one, but not too bad." She took another sip and then looked to Josh quizically. "So, tell me about your eight brothers and sisters." She teased.

Josh laughed. "Ah yeah. My eight brothers and sisters." he took another sip of his smoothie and shrugged. "My sister and brother are both younger than me. They're still in high school. My sister might be coming here soon, but my brother . . ." he trailed off, and took another sip. "Lets just say I'm suprised he's still in high school."

"oh," she replied quietly and took another sip, "Alright, what about where you live? Tell me about that." She offered, trying to get off of what seemed to be a touchy subject.

"My home town is great. There's a lot of things to do. The sky is very open. I noticed that when I went up to Virginia, the hills and what not obstructed my view so much that I couldn't see the sky for more than a miles or so. But in Huntsville, you can see for miles and miles." he thought aloud to himself. "Lets see, what else is there. My friends and family of course. There's Monte Sano....its a mountain.....well....kinda. It's not very high, maybe a few thousand feet. But the view from there is spectacular. I went up there with some of my youth group for a retreat once and we had a blast." Josh stopped, noticing he was doing all the talking. "So how about London?"

"London is London. Course there are some of the more prestegious stores there, but if I shopped all day I'd probably die. It's really crowded, rains a lot. Of course there are some good friend back there, and it's home. Not all it's cracked up to be when you've lived there as long as I have." She gestured with her cup after taking another drink, "Now open skys, mountains, that I would love to see. We used to go out to the country side for lunch when I was little, I loved it. You could still see the city all around you though. It was like being in a padock. Your's sounds better."

"Heh. Yeah." Josh said. "Maybe sometime you can come back and visit with me."

[Iwant2bafencer]

She nodded, "That would be nice." She smiled and then finished off her smoothie. "Uh oh, looks like I'm in need of a trash can." She glanced around for one, then jogged over to the only one in sight, then back to Josh.

"You know I have to confese, I've never been on a horse. So should I infact come visit, I might have a little trouble moving the cattle." She smiled.

"Ha ha." Josh replied, with a smirk. "I live in a subdivision, Chels. The only cattle nearby my house just stand around in a fenced off field all day." he waited a second and then added. "I do go cow tipping every now and then though."

She laughed. "That's horrible! You evil man." She punched him lightly in the arm. "Hey, I can still pretend that you live on some big ranch can't I? Or will I have to stick to watching 'old westerns'? As you American's call them."

"Have at it. If I can imagine you live in some luxurious London appartment." he replied., finishing up his smoothie. "With a butler and the whole deal." he put on his best uneducated British accent. "And he's say 'Roit Guvna.'"

Thickens her accent with a little more snudiness. "My poached eggs were cold James, I should have you fired." She laughed, sticking her nose in the air. "Another mistake like that and I'll drop you in the gutter."

Josh laughed. "Yeah, that'll work." he sat down on a park bench nearby. "It's a nice day out, hope it stays like this for a while."

Cheslea sits next to him and nods, looking up to the sky.

"When I left London, it hadn't stopped raining for a week. This is definately a nice change. Does it rain a lot here?"

"I don't know, I just got here. In Huntsville it doesn't rain much at all though." He thought for a moment and then added. "Hey Chels, what do you do for fun?"

[Iwant2bafencer]

"What do I do for fun, hmm. Well, when I'm alone I like to read and write, I guess we did a lot of shopping, I love the movies, lots of things. Why do you ask?"

"Oh . . . just curious. Maybe we can do something later." he snapped his fingers and pointed to her as if he remembered something. "We still haven't been to Wal-Mart, darlin. I don't want you sleeping a bare matress again tonight."
