Darion parried low as the rage crazed Rosaline almost took his leg. Still on Arcite, Darion pulled his foot out of its sturrup and kicked her away just hard enough to give him some room to dismount. He heard the queen cry out a command for Rosaline to stop but that didn't deter her as she came at Darion again.

Halcyon flashed in defense as Darion was forced to think of how to disarm the woman without hurting her. Parries flew as she launch at least half a dozen attacks at him. Darion was more concerned for her safety than his. His mind worked quickly for a peaceful solution.

The sound of a crash reached the Swordsman's ears just as he mounted Onyx. More crashes followed, catching his interest - he turned his head to the side, bringing his better ear to bear on it. More crashes, yelling - Rosaline's voice. Darion's in reply. And suddenly, the ring of a blade unsheathed. And at this, he dug his heels into Onyx's sides, wheeling him sharply around and into a full gallop.

He counted the seconds as the horse flew across the dusty ground, noting each ring of blades meeting. A pause - then again. And suddenly, he was there. Onyx dodged just aside, barely missing Zelda's horse, a black flash entering the fray. Nękos jumped at the same time, diving from the saddle and smashing straight into Darion, bearing him away from the fight and into the ground, sword tumbling through the air. He didn't know for sure who had started the fight, but at least now it was ended.

He rolled over, and Rosaline was bearing down, sword readied for a final thrust. He spun around, sliding to his feet and springing, ducking away from the first stroke. Three moves later and he was inside her guard, brought a hand down hard on her wrist and knocking the weapon free. At the same instant an elbow to the side of her head sent her reeling, and he let her go to stumble back a few steps.

He took one bounding step to cover the distance, grabbed her by the throat, and threw her to the ground, where he drove a fist straight down into the side of her face, drawing a spout of blood from her lip. Again, and a third time, and she lay still, coughing weakly.

Zelda watched the black flash appear from nowhere and break up the fight. Her brain recoginsed the flash as Naekos, but wasnt exactly sure WHAT he was doing.

It was when he raised his fist up to hit Rosaline again that she came to her senses.

"NAEKOS STOP," she cried, seeing her head of milatry bleeding on the ground, "Its Rosaline."

The Swordsman stopped, his fist half way to her face.

Instead he grabbed her by the front of her blouse, hauling her roughly to her feet. He looked for a moment as if he was going to begin yelling at her, but her head was hung, eyes closed. Instead, he just let go and let her drop to the ground again. He turned to Zelda. "I presume you have something to say to me," he growled. "Let me suggest that you think it over very carefully before you say it, and consider that you are not in any position to command me."

Darion grabbed Halcyon and brought himself back to his feet again. He expected that the Swordsman was long gone by now, apparently not. He looked down at Rosaline and saw that she was bloody and bruised. Looking back at the Swordsman, a scowl adorning his face. "Was that really necessary, Swordsman?" he asked, not very pleased.

"Yes I do," she replied, "a couple of things actually,"
"1. Growling at me like a tiger is not going to get you out of the bollocking I have planned for you, 2. Did you even THINK to see who was fighting before you came charging in here like a maniac?"
Naekos just looked at her, his eyes black and expressionless.
"I have had it up to HERE with your superior attitude. Sure, you are signed to Arcon, not me, but there is a little word called respect, and its something I am finding you having less and less of as time goes on. I show you respect by allowing you to do your own thing, i ask you to respect my people by waiting for maybe oh I dont know, a MILLISECOND before barging in on them."
Zelda paused for breath and turned to face Rosaline,
    "As for you my dear....."

"Yes, McNair, that was completely necessary," Nękos assured him. "Now please consider whether it is necessary or wise to question your commander." He turned back to Zelda. "Allow me a few presumtions based on my observations. First, Rosaline was overcome with emotion due to the fate of her village. Second, she found the fate of her village to be Mister McNair's fault, since he passed through while being pursued, unbeknownst to him. Third, she decided to attack Mister McNair. Am I correct so far?"

Zelda nodded, "so far you are correct," she replied.

"In that case," the Swordsman continued, "I consider my actions completely appropriate. I intervened in the attempted murder of one of my troops by another of my troops. If you disagree with me in this matter, I do not care."

Darion felt as though he should say something but he didn't need to. The Swordsman was his superior and all that he had just stated was correct.

Zelda raised an eyebrow from her perch on Abercrombie. " I understand, but I may not agree." she replied.

"Tell me, then," Nękos raised his eyebrows, "why you would wish me to wait before intervening in this attempted murder."

"Because it wasnt a murder?" the Queen answered. "Lets just leave it and keep moving," Zelda was impatient to get moving, as dark was creeping up.

Darion was all for moving out and forgetting this whole ordeal ever happened. One question sprang to his mind though. "Swordsman, are you still departing or are you retaking command?"

"No, it was not murder," Nękos responded. "But in another 'millisecond', it may well have been. Do not try to be ignorant. I will be leaving, but not before Rosaline comes back to her senses."

Rosaline lay with her head on her arm, not moving. Her head felt like a large rock had been dropped on it. She lifted her head a little and then let let it drop back onto her arm as pain shot through her. She groaned a little but she couldn't register anything that the others were saying. She brought her other arm up over her head as if it would stop the pain.

Rylus glared daggers at Nękos before stepping to his sister and placing a hand on her back.

"Rose, are you alright?" He asked quietly.

"Should I be?" She asked hoarsely, still not moving.

Rylus merely shook his head and knelt by her side, waiting until she was ready to move.
For all she cared, Rose could stay there in the dirt and ash and fall to unconciousness.

A minute or two later Rose spoke again.

"Rylus, who hit me?" She questioned.

Rylus looked at her confused for a moment and then answered, "Nękos did."

    Rose laughed shortly, "He would."

She pulled herself up on her hands and knees and then to her feet, Rylus standing with her lest she fall. Rubbing her wrist, she turned around to look blankly at Nękos.

    "Feel better now?"

He only looked at her. "Give me your sword."

"No." She replied bluntly, knowing exactly what he was doing, "I'll not have you depriving me of my weapon."

She crossed to where he sword lay and thrust it back in its scabbard.

"Actually," he told her, "I will be depriving you of your weapons one way or another. I hope, however, that you might make it a little easier."

"No," Rosaline shot back. "Look I wasn't even aiming for Darion, to be honest I was taking out the pilar next to him. It probably looked like I was aiming at him so naturally he defended himself, we got mixed waves so we faught. Then you come charging bull headed in, you think I would actually kill him? Yes, he is part to blame for this but he didn't do it himself. I . ." Rose shook her head. "I'm not giving it to you."

Rylus stepped infront of Rosaline. "Swordsman, if you lay a hand on my sister." He shook his head.
