Array "Slow down," Nækos told the assembled group. "I have given no orders yet, and I hope I will not have to. I gave my ideas for how I think we should split up, and why. Crin, while I appreciate the comment about being pig-headed, I must point out that you are a loner. You work on your own or with one other, and you look out for yourself. While that is all well and good, I lead a group of people, and am primarily concerned for their safety. I mean no offense to all of you, but where the lives of my team are concerned, I am completely paranoid, and trust very little beyond my own judgement. I still believe that moving in four groups will be provide the best balance of speed and security."
He paused. "Let me reiterate that I am not giving, nor do I wish to give, orders. I am merely attempting to provide leadership. If that is a problem, then I will gladly depart on my own and return to working solo. If any of you have a personal problem with me," he looked directly at Crin, "I would ask you to please bring it up at another time. For right now, I would like to continue a less hostile discussion of the best way to do things, if that might be possible."

Array The sounds of the discussion rose all the way over to where Darion was retrieving his rucksack from Arcite’s saddlebags. He was pretty indifferent about who he would be grouped with, Ame or not. It would be nice if he would get grouped with some good fighters but he was also very capable of defending on his own. Still holding onto his blanket he turned to look at the group, patting Arcite on the neck. “Guess I better go observe the arguing hm?” he told Arcite, with that he began walking over to the group with blanket in hand. He would find a place to sleep later. "We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to understand." Hebrews 5:11 -

Array "Sure." That was all Crin had to say now; she'd spoken her piece. "If we're speaking by preference, I'd rather go with Falcour than Miri. I like her well enough, but I'd feel better with Falcour at my back in a fight." I've got a theory. It could be bunnies.

Array "And Ame and I learned each other's fighting skills during the year I traveled with the gypsies," Miri commented. "Now, if I did switch places with Falcour, it would be me, Darion, and Ame, and Senyik, Falcour, and Crin. Personally, I would trust Senyik with my safety more than Darion, not because of lack of fighting skill, but because of Senyik's feelings for me. I can see no reason Darion would be able to protect Ame and me better than Senyik, and I will not accept your suggestion for that formation of my group until you tell me your reasons." Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should get used to the idea.

Array "Very well," Nækos conceded. "Then we will have myself, Zelda, and Meekal; Miri, Senyik, and Ame, Darion, Falcour, and Crin, and Rosaline, Rylus, Talmour, and Alys. Is this agreeable?" Array Ame just munched on another candy. "If we get the most dragons, do we win?" I've got a theory. It could be bunnies.

Array "What's the prize, then? Anybody? Tell you what, I say our group gets three dragons. I'll put two..." She pulled the Arconian money out of her pocket and wrinkled her nose at it, "of these gold thingies on it. Anybody?" I've got a theory. It could be bunnies.

Array "Thank you, Swordsman," Miri said, then turned to Senyik. "What do you think, my love? Two weeks with me and Ame?" Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should get used to the idea.

Array Meekal, who had been silent until this point, shrugged & stated, "Whatever everyone else wants, I'm in for, I guess." He was tired. Tired & not quite thinking clearly. So, those who knew better could do the thinking for him, at least for now. "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Array "So no bets, then?" Ame asked, feeling somewhat trampled upon. She popped another candy into her mouth and immediately felt better. "I have candy. Never mind." I've got a theory. It could be bunnies.

Array "Very well, then. The shopkeeper has informed me that he can spare us a room in the back," Nækos informed the group as a chill breeze gusted up. "It's going to get cold tonight; I can smell the weather changing. Winter will be setting in soon up here. We will have shelter, but for the very same reason, we will be without a fire. I suggest bedding down with the group you will be traveling with - spread several sleeping furs together, get comfortable, and pull one fur over all of you."
Various looks of disbelief or disgust were his reply. A few, however, looked more accepting to the idea.
"Oh, get over yourselves," he told the former. "I can virtually guarantee you will have to do it more often as we move into the mountains."

Array Rose turned to start pulling her pack from shadowmaker before turning back to Nækos.
"and his stable? Can we use that too?" She asked "Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory." - George S. Patton -

Array "Hey, look, an excuse to sleep together," was all Ame could say to Falcour and Crin, who just looked back at her with blank expressions. "Oh, lighten up, you two."
"Who wants to break the news that she has to sleep with Miri and her new beau?" Talmour muttered to his best friend and his brother.
They both just looked at him.
"Guess that means me," Talmour decided. "Hey, Ame, wait up a minute, will you?" He and Ame headed off back to the storage room of Quick Trippe. I've got a theory. It could be bunnies.

Array "You DO realize we have to bed with whoever we're leaving with tomorrow, right?" Talmour asked as they made their way to the back of the Quicke Trippe, careful to avoid the aisle containing Ame's favorite candies. "That means--"
"I'm with Miri," Ame filled in. "No problem."
"AND Senyik?"
"Well," and now Ame looked perfectly serious, her blue-green eyes flickering around the aisle around them, "I guess that means I'll avoid being in the middle then, eh?" I've got a theory. It could be bunnies.

Array Darion stood there, still holding his blanket. “I don’t think I’ll be needing that fur.” he told Crin and Falcour as he held out his blanket for emphasis. His eyes moved to Falcour “You don’t snore, do you?” "We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to understand." Hebrews 5:11 -

Array "Good," Rose nodded and took Shadowmaker's reins, walking him towards the stables at the back of the store.
"Well this should be fun." Rylus spoke, coming up next to her.
Rose looked under Shadowmaker's neck and quirked a brow. "Sure."
They entered the stables and looked around. For such a small store, the stables were rather nice.
"Well, loft or ground?" Rylus asked. Rose shrugged and turned to Alys who did the same.
"Talmour, looks like it's up to you." Rose called as Talmour and Ame walked in. "Are we sleeping here on the ground or in the loft?" "Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory." - George S. Patton -

Array "He does," Crin answered promptly, turning to give Falcour a look that might have been bordering on impish. He scowled a bit, but shrugged. "I sleep like the dead--I don't move. What about you? Do you snore?"
---
"Ground," Talmour immediately replied, spurring Ame to look at him with an alarmed look. This quickly changed to a look of realisation, and then amusement, preceeding a giggle fit. Talmour looked around quickly and then clapped a hand over her mouth. "Shut it!"
"He--" Ame ripped the hand away from her mouth, still giggling. "He--he's a-afraid of heights!" I've got a theory. It could be bunnies.
