    PBT foil wires

Today we started to rewire the damaged foils at our club, and when we tried to put the plastic tip of the wire inside the tip of the foil, we found it does not fit. This hasn't happened to us and I want to know if this is usual or something strange. Also the metallic contact inside the plastic tip of the wire is tilted in a lot of the wires.

I doubt that since it's the same barrels and the same wires we've always ordered. It's like the plastic tip is just bigger than usual.

Maybe the barrel is deformed. It happens quite often with foils.

It's possible the barrel and wire were manufactured at very different times...at LBI a couple of years back Dan DeChaine helped me correct a vexing problem with a teammate's foil...the spring would not sit into the cup...Dan looked at it, pulled a new spring from his own stores...it fit perfectly!

Sometimes from year to year there are VERY slight variations in the parts...this may be one of them. You may have ot find a barrel the wire will fit into...or the other way 'round...

I tried with every spare barrel we have, and when not one fit, I realized it was more than a accidental difference between the cup and the barrel.

Thanks to the advice on another thread, I'm going to try to make my own wires.
