We have two Favero reels at Tulane and they are working great. We have had them for about a year and a half and get really abused. They are stored in a closed that leaks and has a humidity of about 100% most of the time. We use them twice a week and also bring them to tournaments and such. My fencers have managed to drop them several times and routinely let go of the cable from mid strip.

The only problems I can see are:

1. People feel the need to stand on them!
2. The case they come in (the plastic storage case) is nice but the weight of the 2 reels is just too much for the handle.

I worry about the socket at the end of the cable. The retaining clip and the clip you clip to your jacket could be designed better but no problem so far.

I would defiantly recommend the Favero reels.

The scoring machine is another issue. I like the Favero machine with time and the score is really nice for tournaments. The Lessor expensive Favero machine works fine as well even with the YELLOW off targets. Our division has a couple of them. We have not purchased the Favero machines for the club because they are plastic. We have to pack and unpack the machines 2 or 3 times a week and they get a good deal of abuse. We have 3 SG 12s, the old style. They have held up great a few scratches and one cracked colored lens but work great.

The next boxes we purchase will be SG 12s if we can still get them or maybe a Blue Sky.

Good luck with your up coming tournament

Cheers
