Recently,my IE's homepage has been changed to some funny site that I've never even heard of.When I change it back to my normal page,it just gets changed back again once I restart my computer.I suspect that there's some Spyware or Adware somewhere in my com but am not sure what to do about it.Please help me!Thanks.

Yes. You definitely have picked up some nasty stuff.

I suggest that you find a program called Spybot. It's shareware, and one of the best programs on the internet for getting rid of pratically everything bad on your computer. You might also get additional software called Ad-Aware and maybe a personal firewall of some kind that will block such attempts in the future.

    Good Luck!!!

Spybot can be set up to block downloads that you may not know about. It's a good program.

the only thing i don't love about spybot.... (and, i would give spybot my firstborn...) is that it can't actually kill the keylogger on my computer. (and, i've edited the reg...as has one or two of my geekier friends.... there are at least four files that you have to delete at the same time, or they repopulate themselves.......)

it knows it exists. it just can't DO anything about it.

right. Personally, I reformat my hard drive anually. Helps clear up junk and the like. I recently got an annoying browser hijack and just switched to Mozilla Firebird so I don't have to deal with it. It comes with a popup blocker, too.

    Thanks everybody.
I downloaded and used SpyBot and used the tools thing to change my homepage but one of those weird seach sites still keeps appearing. Also, the search for problems thing seems to get stuck because of something called C2.lop(it's fine when I check the box for C2 at the exclude list)

    Spybots

Run the prgram more than once it ussualy fixes thngs if you do. You can also check inside your contol panels and then add remove programs and remove any "odd" looking programs that look like they are related to it.

I have the program called Spybots Seach and Destroy that works well.

I'm sure you've already done it, but also make sure you download all the newest updates everytime you run spybot.

I suggest mccaffee virus scan, it works like a charm.

Except if what he has isn't covered in the virus scanner's database. Those german h4xx0r/pr0n sites have some nasty little bits of code that no one knows about. I would advise you to stop browsing them

spybot actually puts spyware onto your computer though. . . It just doesn't register when you scan for it with spybot (or so I've heard)

Ad-Aware is without Spyware. I use it and my computer runs ultra fast for being 2 years old.

I use both Ad-Aware and Spybot, between the two pretty much nothing gets through. you can get ad aware for free at http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10...ml?legacy=cnet
Neither Ad Aware or Spy bot will fix a virus though so I would definitly recommend getting some sort of virus software in addition to these.
