"Apology accepted," he nodded, "and thank you. Now let us return to the fire."

The Swordsman opened his mouth to comment, then thought better of it in order to avoid a fresh argument. "Just out of curiosity," he said instead, "if you trust me so much and actually like me, why do you always rail against me?"

    "Good question."

Moon thought for a moment before she answered. "Well...you've irritated me from the moment we met. Always so much better than everyone else...Never showing your feelings. Never really talking to anyone. Not to mention this overdeveloped paranoia..." Moon shrugged. "Besides, you say you care for me so much, yet you treat me like an idiot child. Maybe if you'd give me a chance, I might surprise you. But you've never given me that chance." She looked at him for a moment, then looked away. He nodded once, short. "Very well." And was silent.

"That's it?" Moon said after a minute. "No lecture? No scolding? Just a nod & a 'very well'?" Something wasn't right. It made Moon nervous to see him this calm, & not visibly angry.

Rosaline handed Senyik the second bird for him to do as he wished with it. They had more than enough meat.

"Well, this is as much fun as I've had in months." She said to no one in particular.

It seemed the only people who weren't yelling at each other were the two pairs of love birds. As much as she liked them, she hated them right now. Everyone else seemed to be mad at someone else if not more than one person, and they were perfectly content.

    "bah." Rose spat.

    "What was that?" Zelda asked.

"Nothing." She replied curty before leaning back against a rock and pulling her cloak tightly around her.

It was going to be a long and cold trip. She wasn't just talking about the weather either.

"I have spent the past month," he explained, "trying to convince people the Russic are in fact coming, and trying to convince them to do something about it. Nobody else seems to feel any sense of urgency; they think they will get to it when they feel like it. I nearly had a small riot on my hands when I held the summit, and then there was a hostage situation with the old king of Muu. Now, I have Rosaline lying to me, Zelda attempting to deceive me through a disguise and lying to me on top of it, and that all adds up to the two of them attempting to push a very unstable situation on me without my knowledge of the dangers - namely, traveling with the queen. While I still try to protect you as your husband warms up to the duty, you continue to do your damndest to foil me at every turn, once again ignoring every instruction, command, and bit of advice given you by anyone and everyone, and risking far too much to satisfy your own selfish desires and come join us. Zelda left nobody in charge back at the castle, and as an afterthought, sent a carrier pigeon back to inform you that you were to be in charge. Of all of Arconia. Since Arcon has decided to run off with a mysterious woman who carries a whiff of the Scent. Zelda wants me to be happy with the fact that she remembered to send the message at all, not considering that she chose one of the least reliable and most easily compromised forms of communication. In any case, it turns out that you are now here. With Muu no longer a threat, I find myself fighting hardest against Arconians to preserve Arconia. I just made some kind of a relative peace with you. I would rather stay with that for a little while than tell you what I was actually thinking."

"Oh..." was all Moon could think to say in response. Then, she added brows furrowed, "But thank you for sharing this with me. I actually agree that I'm hardly the choice to run Arconia. I can't even run my own life." She sighed at the thought. "I am sorry, Nękos, for all of this. I'll willingly go back to Arconia in the morning, & I won't bother you again. You have enough to worry about."

"Go return to the fire," Nękos told her. "I shall be there shortly."

"Yes, sir." Moon bent her head & did as told, finding Meekal standing there, waiting.

"Did you apologize?" he asked. When she nodded, he smiled & took her hand. "Good. You're freezing. Come get warm." He removed his own cloak & wrapped it around her, then took her into his arms. "It is good to see you," he murmured.

"It doesn't seem that way," Moon returned.

"I won't tell you how bad of an idea it was to come after me, but I will tell you that I don't blame you. I would have done the same thing," Meekal admitted. "But we're rulers now. And you are expecting. We have to show some control." Moon simply nodded, & allowed him to hold her as she began to get warm.

Zelda watched all of this with rising dread. If Moon was here, who was looking after Arconia? This required some talking, and soon. Leaving Rosaline to attack the birds Zelda walked over to Moon.
    "can we talk?"

Moon hesitated. She hadn't talked to Zelda since she made her terrible admission before the summit. "All right..." Moon stood, still wrapped in Meekal's cloak. "Shall we stay or go elsewhere?"

"Lets Walk, it will get the blood flowing and hopefully warm us both up."
Moon nodded, walking had to be better then sitting with the balful eye of Naekos on her.
As they started walking around the edge of camp, Zelda looked at her scribe and felt guilty, who was she to impinge on her happiness. She took a deep breath and started talking, "I have a confession to make,"

Moon raised an eyebrow. Her first thought was, What? You're pregnant with Meekal's baby? But she thought better than to say it aloud. Especially if they were walking alone. "And that is?" Moon asked cautiously. What could Zelda possibly have to say to her?

"Ever since the summit, when you admitted you were pregnant with Arcons child I have been mad. REALLY mad. Its so unfair, the fact you are carrying my husbands child, it should have been me. I am his wife. I know we had all that fun years ago, but he chose me! Not you...." Zelda was getting up a head of steam, it looked as if this could go on for awhile.

"I don't blame you. I am sorry it happened. I sincerely wish it was you, not me," Moon stated, head bowed. "I wouldn't blame you for hating me, either. I've hated myself for some time now."

"If wishes were horses beggers would ride," Zelda replied, "and I would have a stable full. Instead I have only jealously, and rage to sustain me. Do you know how hard it has been for me, seeing you and Meekal so happy, and knowing at the same time I was loosing my husband?"

"Terribly hard, I'm sure," Moon mumbled. She deserved this "discussion," but it hurt all the same. Her relationship with Zelda never had been stellar. There was always something between them. Something in the form of a man. A man who betrayed them both. All that Zelda needed to say was finally being said, & all Moon could do was listen, & take what she deserved.

Zelda saw the look in Moons eyes and sighed (again!). "I dont mean to hurt you, but I have to get it off my chest....its been sitting there for so long, eating me up inside and I just couldnt say anything, for fear of I odnt know what. I cried at your wedding, not because you and Meekal (and his rocks) were finally happy, but because seeing you happy reminded me of what I had lost. It was like someone had taken a knife out of my heart and it was bleeding. Thats why I didnt really stay long, I couldnt stand to see everyone so happy. I promise you, on the pain of death, that your child will have every advantage in life. I will see to it, somehow, that they are made the rightful heir of Arconia, even though technically they are a bastard". I promise you that Moon."
