Results for the individual are up on the USFA website. In WS, Cecile Argioloas from France won. Sada Jacobson was 2nd and Emily Jacobson was 3rd. Mariel Zagunis was 7th. Some remarkably good people didn't make it out of the pools (Jennifer Oldham Cox) or into the second day (Nhi Lan Le, Emma Barratta), so I feel somewhat less foolish <grin> and Deb Stopak, one of our US veterans, beat Nhi Le to get into the second day.

Keeth Smart was third in the men's (Mihai Covaliu of Romania was first, Zsolt Nemcsik of Hungary was second) and Ivan Lee was 13th.

    No team results yet.

Honduras wins team MS and places 3rd in team WS.... what's going on here? lol. US came in ahead of Romania in team MS though, always good to see. USFA has full team results up now.

I believe there's a mistake on the usfa website for mens teams results.
First place was hungary, not honduras. It was a great match to watch none the less.

I was wondering about the Honduras too. Hungary has traditionally had much stronger teams.

Well I went to the WC to watch and have fun. And I want to say something in defense of the US men's sabre team. They got royally screwed. When the score was 43-44 Hungary Keith Smart was up. He backed up and Pise-de-fer'd and then attacked. The PdF was quite noticable to everyone watching, minus the ref. That made them loose the bout and not give them a shot to podium. I just wanted to clarify this and say that the team did much better then their standings indicate.

What was the action called as? The Hungarian's beat attack? Or was it a very light beat that wasn't noticable?

I was there also, and I concur with what kshan said. I have to say tho it was probably the best sabre match I've ever watched, team or individual. Much more exciting than the final even. The Hungarians pulled away early, and it was a constant game of the hungarians pulling away, and the americans playing catch up, specifically Keeth Smart's making up a nearly 14 or 15 touch deficit on his last run, to bring it to eventually 44-43 Hungary. The Hungarian was chasing Keeth and I was getting nervous for them, when Keeth smart reached out, picked up a beautiful pris-de-fer, switched directions and got the touch. Everyone from the american side was celebrating, then the judge raised the wrong hand. Undisguised outrage was the mood of the moment, and even Peter Westbrook who had been standing by soicly nearly the whole time was visibly upset. This is in addition to the fact that there had been somewhat questionable directing throughout the match.
Oh well. Despite them not having technically achieved 45 touches, in my eyes at least it was a victory for the USA team.
Incredibly impressive bout, especially considering that in the individual tournament the day before, hungary had 4 people in the top 8, while usa had one.
I hope somebody got it all on tape..
