| Shoes--Adidas or "Li-Ning" so my question is this:
for the dollar, which shoe is better, adidas"equipment" ( http://thefencingpost.com/Pictures/Shoes/CS02.JPG)or the jl "li-ning" ( http://thefencingpost.com/Pictures/Shoes/CS20.JPG)?
(buhhh....if the links dont work, just copy n paste it into the url thingy)
ive come across the chance to gain some used equipments for about $80-$90. there is a bit of wear on the rear inside toe, but nothing terrible. the shoes have only been through about a year of light and occasional fencing. i could either get these or a new pair of li-nings. what do you guys think?

| I recommend getting the used adidas shoes. For a bit less than half the price retail you can probably get some insoles and toss it in there if the inside wear turns into an issue. A lot of people the shoe is overated but I personally got them just because I liked how they look. |

| I don't think the Chinese shoes will last half as long as the Adidas.

| Having purchased both of the shoes you mention, I would go with the adidas. I was very against the asyms for a long time, thinking it was just some fashionable crapola...but on my last fencing trip to San Jose, I tried a pair on along with a few other styles and WHOA....extremely comfortable and a great shoe....very different from the other shoes out there. Best fencing shoe I've had, and I've owned a few. |

| Adida's Equipment definitely scores high in fashion, mediocre in everything else. Most of its features are for looks only -- and it is not even that good looking comparing to other types of shoes at that price range.

| I had a pair of Dowin (similar to Li Ning) before and i felt good with it...i was full of praise for it as i was using a pair of lousy court shoes before that. But when i tried Adidas Equipment ( the hi cut one, not asyms) after my Dowin wore out, i was like...."OMG, This is the One". I'd prob be sticking to adidas fencing shoes for a long time....The bonus is that it looks good as well. The shoes really give me lotsa protection esp. since i had a surgical operation on my trailing foot. Go get it. It is the One. Not Neo. |

Noah | $40?..hook me up with a pair..?
i've been wearing the Li Nings for over a year now and theres no significant wear on them. i've tried the assyms, but after about half a bout the pinky toe on my front foot started hurting: one important issue, if you have wide feet, go with the li nings. i have wide feet, and the li nings are perfect, as where the assyms made my feet hurt. when i tried on the assyms, i also noticed how i didnt really feel sturdy on the floor. the li nings are wider, and thus have a wider base on them, and then going to the assyms, they felt really thin and i didnt feel too secure in them.
just my experiences.

| i have long narrow feet and i was looking into buying a pair of adidas at u-19 sectionals. so basically what im getting from you guys is, you guys have no regrets about the adidas equipment (asyms)? One other question about them, would you wear them on the "cheese grater" aluminum strips? For example like at Penn State if you have ever been there.

| Cheese grater strips will eat any shoe. But the asyms get torn up pretty easy. I personally love the front shoe but I use a d'art for my back shoe. |
