German V2a Foil Points

What is the difference between these points and the old points? I saw a photo and it appears that the material is different but are there any engineering differences that make them better?

They are made out of harder metal so the barrels don't dent as easy. Besides that, they exactly the same (and the color is a little different). They're worth the extra $2.
