    TCA Club Scoring Machine

Triplette is selling a new scoring box for $295 mainly for clubs that don't have a lot of money. Has any one heard anything about this scoring machine or know of anywhere that might sell equiptment cheaper for a club that's just getting started.

    Thanks

TCA machines (both models) haven't earned a good reputation among most of the USFA armorers. I'd look to Eigertek, SG-11, Blue Sky, or Favero.

I believe there are numerous threads on this site that explain their sucktasticness at length, if you want to read them. Save the money, get something better. I thought BG had a <$350 model

Local college club bought two. They've never both worked at the same time. Always something, normally a blown power supply that's the problem. Trip actually told them a specific way to plug it in, and turn it on to try to avoid the blown supply and unit. Have to cycle all the way through all the weapons after you turn it on before it will work... not a good box at all

I'll second the claims of poor power supply performance.

We had one on my college team, and the fuse inside the supply was always blowing. The Tripplete person told me I could replace it myself if I wanted... I never got around to it since they used bizzare screws (Torx, i think) and I never got a proper driver for them.

Also, with the issues of sweaty-glove shorting.. I wouldn't recommend the TCA box.

TCA is not noted for quality in there boxes. I recommend your club spend a few more bucks up from. the Eclipse box (Ekritik spelt wrong I think) is in my minds eye the best box on the market for around $350.

I think you'll be happier with a real box as to having the dissatisfation of the TCA box and then having to buy something differnet in the long run.

Better option is to go to the Favero website and get them directly. 285 euro is a great deal, even with the 40 euro shipping charge.

Carl- Absolutely the dumbest set up possible! If the power supply is plugged into the wall socket before it is plugged into the scoring machine, it is almost guaranteed to short out the power supply and blow the fuse inside the power supply.

You can open the power supply and replace the fuse yourself, but why would you want to? Our club just bought a Favero from Swormaster and it is by far the coolest looking box for the money. Works well and is easy to read. The only problem is the volume for the beeper, there are only 2 settings, loud or soft and there is no way to turn the volume off.
