"I tried to give you attention," Slade protested, again without opening his eyes. "You can blame Krasala for not letting me."

Ken-Dall stood over him, a perturbed look on her face. "Guard or not, I'm in no mood for you. And yes, I am very well spoke for." She looked over at her sister, who groaned in her sleep. "Growing up, Buffy got most of the attention. And here we are...she has the guards, & I have nothing." A twinge of guilt filled her senses. Guilt that she felt jealous of her sister, who remained captive in her own home, the day after her wedding. How could she feel that way? Ken-Dall growled at herself.

This time Slade's eyes did open; in fact, he stood up, turning Ken-Dall by her shoulder and ignoring the disgusted look she gave his hand. "I apologize, m'lady, for my antics. As I said before, I mean no harm, and was trying to joke. I understand your being in no mood for it, and so I do apologize. As far as the attention goes, you are in somewhat better shape than she is. Were she in your circumstances, I do not know that she would be so closely guarded - and were you in her circumstances, I would think you would be."

"Do not get me wrong. I'm quite thankful that I am not in her circumstances. But I am very concerned that I am...in her face," Ken-Dall stated. At his raised eyebrows, she said, "If you have not noticed, we are twins. Identical. And that fact seems to have been overlooked just about everyone. If she's in danger..." Ken-Dall pointed to her sister. "...it could very well go without saying that I am in danger as well." She moved to a chair & dropped into it. "And my 'dearest love' seemed to have let that pass, while his friends made their plans to protect her." She really had no idea where the animosity had come from, but it was there. She was tired, yes, & angry, beyond sadness. She hated how she felt, but those horrible feelings from childhood were returning.

"Now, before you begin going on about your 'dearest love'," Krasala warned quietly, "we have been informed how that arrangement came about. I think you are in no position to complain about his behavior. If you really are worried about being her twin, then stay with us, and we will guard you as well. Or, we can probably call on some friends to take care of you."

"No. That's quite all right. An entire life on the streets has given me plenty of opportunities to learn to protect myself. I'm not worried about that. It would just be nice to receive some of the same consideration that she has received," Ken-Dall said. Then she added, "Instead of being invisible."

"Darion already told you you are not invisible by any means," Krasala assured her, "and I must agree myself. Slade, shut up."

"Wasn't going to say a word."

"In any case," Krasala continued, "I'm glad you're here - we need your help. She's your sister, and you know each other; you can help her in ways we can't. Plus, I don't want the three of us alone to get bored out of our minds."

"Fine." Ken-Dall settled back, frayed nerves finally calming. She let a loud yawn escape her mouth as she stretched in the chair. "No boredom here. Maybe a little nap, first...then maybe some cards?"

An hour passed. Slade slept on the floor, Moon in her bed. Ken-Dall had stretched out in the chair, also asleep. Her senses high on alert, Krasala sat with her back against the bed, wide awake...watching...listening. She understood the new queen's feelings, being separated from her own husband, but such was duty. Eventually, the young Queen of Muu would understand. Until then, they would be there to see that she was safe. Hopefully, Moon wouldn't do anything too stupid to test her boundaries. Then again, Krasala expected it.

A knock came to the door, loud & clear. Everyone jolted wide awake at the noise. A shot of hope surged through Moon's veins, but they cooled as she realized that reality just wouldn't make it so. Meekal would not be coming back so soon. She sat up, feeling dizzy suddenly. Then, she flopped back onto her pillow. "Oh...I don't feel so good."

Krasala was first to the door, and opened it a crack, daggers at the ready. Whoever it was, didn't say a word. Krasala said only, "I see." Closing the door, she turned and motioned to Slade - "It's for you."

Slade hauled himself up, sauntered to the door, opened it a crack and stuck his head out. Greeting him was a rather angry looking face, which sported an eye swollen nearly shut, bandages covering a deep gash across it. "I see," Slade repeated, and stepped out the door.

When it had closed behind him, Holden spoke quietly: "Sir, I need to see the Queen Buffy, if I may, but I will require your assistance."

"And what is the nature of this visit?" Slade kept his face blank.

"Personal. I'm afraid there was something of a misunderstanding earlier this morning; I need to speak to her to work it out, but she is somewhat less than cooperative at the moment."

Slade nodded thoughtfully for a moment, then suddenly clutched the actor's face in one large hand, causing a cry of pain to be muffled in his palm. "What do you take me for, Mr. Holden? Do you not think I would know some of what is going on with my charge? Do you presume me a fool?"

Inside, Moon lay with her hand on her head. She looked to her sister, who raised her eyebrows at Krasala. Asking the question that showed on Moon's face, Ken-Dall said, "What's that about?"

"Oh, nothing," Krasala assured them. "Just some business Slade had to take care of."

Slade, meanwhile, was having a quiet heart-to-heart, left hand still locked onto Holden's face, right now wielding the scimitar. "Let me make myself very clear, Holden. Out of respect for the lady's wishes, the Swordsman showed you mercy. Now, the lady does not know you are here this time, and so cannot ask mercy for you. If I ever see your face again beyond these next ten seconds, my sister and I will render you completely unrecognizable even to your own mother. Do you understand me perfectly well?"

"Are you sure you wish this?" Slade inquired. Holden nodded as best he could, given the circumstances. "Very well. I will bring you into the room, with her permission. She will do with you as she pleases. You will do nothing back. You will consider every remark very carefully, for if any remark displeases myself, my sister, the queen, or her sister, in any way, you will learn of places you never knew you had, hurting in ways you never imagined possible."

He let go of Holden, turned, knocked on the door. "Your majesty. There is a Mr. Holden here, wishing to apologize to you. Shall I bring him in?"

Moon sat up, slower this time. "I..." She looked to Ken-Dall, who smirked. Suddenly, her day was about to get a lot more exciting. "Yes, I suppose so." Moon swung her legs over the side of the bed & crossed her arms. "He may enter."

The door opened, revealing Slade and Holden. Slade shoved him by the shoulder into the room. "Start talking, but think carefully."

"Buffy...I'm sorry..."

An expectant look.

"I just...I love you...I want you...you're too good for Meekal, you should know it. Come with me, please..."

"It is too late for that, Mr. Christian. You had that opportunity several years ago, yet you chose to leave without me. I'm not coming with you now. I married Meekal. And he is the the one who is too good for me," Moon stated, feeling a pang at the mention of Meekal's name. "I don't understand why you suddenly need me so much now."

"Waaaaait a minute," Ken-Dall said, piping in. She stood & moved to the bed to sit beside her sister, copying Moon's posture. Holden's good eye widened slightly in surprise. "Yeah, we're twins. Surprise." She looked at Slade & said, "I think my dear sister brought up a good point. Why the sudden interest in her now? You did leave, didn't you?" She glared at Holden.
