| "Alright..." She paused. "Is the story over? I think I'd like to lay down for a while now."

| "Yep, that's about it," Slade nodded emphatically. "Mind if we just sack out on the floor?"

| "Fine. Neither of you snore, do you?" Moon settled herself into place, elbow propping her up. At the very least, no one would be barging in on her this way. That gave her some comfort.

| "Slade does."
"Do not."
"Do too."
"Do not."
"How would you know? You're asleep for it!"
"Fine."
Moon just glared.
"Sorry." Krasala grinned. "If he starts, I'll kick him."

| "I'd like to kick you both, but somehow, I don't think Nękos would appreciate that much," Moon stated. She lay down on her back & stared at the ceiling. Where could the be by now? Not too far. If she could ditch her escorts, she could be there in no time. Despite Nękos. "I wonder where they are now..." she mused aloud. "And I wonder if he's thinking of me."

| "They're probably about ten minutes north of here," Slade mused, eyes closed. "If by 'him' you mean Meekal, I'd say definitely. And if you mean Nękos, I'd say most likely."

| "Now, why would I care if Nękos was thinking about me?" Moon rolled her eyes. Even so, the words brought her some comfort.

| "I'll answer you. I don't. It's all well & good that he wants to protect me. Why, I still don't quite understand. If he is thinking of me, he's probably thinking how glad he is that I'm not along, because I annoy him so much. If he is thinking of me...wait, I don't care. Never mind." She closed her eyes tight & tried to get to sleep. She sighed. Only ten minutes! That wasn't far enough, but it was too far as well. Not far enough because if she did escape her prison, she didn't want to have to go back so soon. And too far...well...she wiped her eyes with her sleeve, & attempted to sniffle as quietly as possible.

| The raised eyebrow Slade directed at his sister said, You going to handle this one?
Her getting up and moving to the bed said Of course, you moron, I'm not completely heartless - like you.
The rest of the ensuing argument, they both presumed to have taken place as it would under any other circumstances, as Krasala sat down next to Moon. "Hey..."
"What?" Somehow, Moon managed to look meaner while crying.
"He'll come back for you. Nękos won't let anything happen to him. I saw how he looked when he left you; he hates this as much as you do. You'll be alright..."

| "But he did. That's just it. He did. The day after we got married, he left me. I'm not going to be 'all right'. I've been abandoned & left with...babysitters!" Moon rolled over & cried into her pillow, tired of the conversation, & everything else for that matter. There was only one thing she wanted, and she heard herself admit, "I want to go too..."

| Krasala gently placed a hand on Moon's back. "I'm sorry, but you can't...you have more than just yourself to think of. What would Meekal do if something happened to you? Think how easy it would be to hurt the child, even just by riding. What would you do if you hurt the child by going after them?"

| "My mother did far more when she carried Ken-Dall & I. And how would anything happen to me with my guards around?" Moon commented bitterly. Can't, indeed...

| "You should count yourself quite lucky, then. Our mother just did normal chores when she was carrying Slade and I, and look how he turned out?" He slapped at her ankle from the floor, without opening his eyes. "But seriously, it would be far too easy to hurt the child. Even without Nękos' orders, I would not let you do such a thing. We are here to protect you, but much of that protection comes just from not taking risks."

| "This isn't fair," Moon sobbed. "I wish this never happened to me. I just want to die. I wish I would have just died when I jumped off that cliff!"

| "Hey, hey...what would have become of Meekal, in that case? And even Nękos...he never would have gotten over it. You'll get through this. I think you just need a nap now - I'm willing to guess you didn't get much sleep last night - and then some time out in the sun on a nice day."
Unfortunately, even as Krasala spoke, a cloud came over the sun and a few drops spattered the window. At least Moon was already face down with her eyes closed...

| "Fine," Moon mumbled, exaustion overtaking her. "A nap..." Then I'll figure a way to go find them myself...

| A knock came to the door not long after. On the other side, the very image of the woman who lay in the bed waited. She rapped again, thinking, Maybe she killed them & ran away... "No," Ken-Dall muttered, "that was my thing."
Until Darion.

| The door opened slowly, revealing Krasala's face in the crack, a dagger at the ready. "Oh, I'm sorry. Come in, but quiet. She's catching up on a bit of sleep."

| Ken-Dall smiled, despite how she felt. Perhaps she'd like this Krasala afterall. She thought of the dagger at her own hip. Ken-Dall nodded, & entered the chamber. Sure enough, her sister lay asleep in the bed. And there were her two guards, at the ready. "Once again, my dear Buffy gets all the attention." Ken-Dall said
