His face turned to stone again, though it was barely visible. "You sent a carrier pigeon to Moon. A pregnant woman known for her temper and recent emotional fragility. Not only that, but the fact that you sent a pigeon at all, means you sent it from the Two Seasons Inn. What were you doing there? And why did it take you that long to realize you would need to leave somebody in charge? Or, was that just an afterthought? Dragons recognizing royalty? What makes you think they will care the difference even between males and females? And presuming they can somehow magically recognize royalty, what makes you think they are friendly, and will not simply pick loyalty as the first to maul? Your actions to this point have been irresponsible to say the least. Your reasoning as to why you should be hear does not even merit the term 'weak'. And finally, you attempted to deceive me, and then lied to me. Do not forget that any lie to me is grounds for termination of our contract and my immediate departure, with the Strike Force. By all means, please, continue explaining. The rain is getting harder and the fire will not last much longer, and then we may well be reduced to eating this meat raw. So please, take your time."

He moved quickly around her to the edge of the trees, threw the rabbit carcass into the clearing, and turned to begin searcing for the rest of the nest that he knew had to be in the area.

Zelda sighed. Long and deep. How was she going to explain to him that she had to get out of the castle? That she was essentially running away, from her life, from everything.

"Lets walk and talk, you and I may be able to stomach raw rabbit but somehow I dont think the others will."

Naekos nodded his assent, and started back toward the camp through the trees.

"Now explain," he growled, still not looking at her, his anger palatable in the damp.

"I really shouldnt have to, I am the queen. I know that technically I have broken the contract Arcon had with you, but you never really had it with me. I never signed it, nor saw it, I only ever head about it."

"In that case," Nækos replied, "you do have to explain. If the contract I have is not with you, then I am not your subordinate in any way, and by coming on this expedition, you become mine, especially since - if my memory serves correctly, which it rarely fails to - we are now outside of Arconian territory."

Zelda sighed again. (there is alot of that happening on this misson).
"Your memory is only slightly wrong. We are in disputed territory. The ancients say it belonged to Arconia, the Von Schmects seem to think it is theirs."
Naekos nose wrinkled at the mention of Arconias neighbours. Zelda allowed herself a small smile at his reaction and continued.

" The contract you signed, as far as I understand was with Arcon and the people of Arconia. Technically that includes me."

Naekos nodded, it made sense, since the King and Queen were also part of the general populus of Arconia.

"I guess I had better start at the beginning hadnt I?"
