    Grounding sabre sockets

Now I know when using foil 2 prong sockets on a sabre you have to ground it for it to work correctly, and Ive never encountered this problem as when I used 2 prong I would order sabre specific sockets. But I've made the switch to bayonet and I love it except the comparative complexity of the socket.
Running a wire from the screw on the side to the base of the blade grounds it, but this is an annoying use of time. My two questions are now:

    1) Why is it not grounded automatically? It seems that the socket itself where connected to the blade should ground it. Perhaps this screw on the side isn't touching a different part of the socket where a connection needs to be made(in which case wouldn't it make sense to fix it so it's already grounded?)

and 2) Is there any way to ground it besides the wire? I have seen people use tape to ground their bayonet sockets, something about insulating...some part of it so that it isn't touching...something else..
    Can anyone clarify?
    Thanks

I assume you are speaking of Leon Paul. You should do what you did for 2-prong, but Sabre specific sockets. They do sell those. You can tell them at a glance. They do not have the screw, nor any place to put the screw.

How they make them is to have a brass base, rather than a plastic base. There are several methods of grounding a Leon Paul connector. The best way is to remove the screw and solder a wire from the screw hole to the bracket. A quick fix, but not the best is run a wire under the screw and the other end under the bracket and tighten down.

I have been trying to get the bases from Leon Paul without success. So you can either but new Sabre connectors or use the wire.

Yeah, basically you just need to use some form of metal. Once you have something in place, you can usually solder it for good measure, or just tape it.
