Infinity Lame` washing instructions?

I have an infinity lame, have had it for a few months and have never washed it. I feel like it is time but am not sure exactly how to go about it. I know I could hand wash it like other lames, but is it machine washable? How does one do that?
Should I throw it in alone, or with other clothes, and what kind of detergent should be used?
I do NOT want to screw up my lame. It's so comfortable

Given how fast it takes to hand wash a lame (I did both of mine tonight in less than 10 minutes), I'd do it that way. While the metallized fabric of the Infinity lames isn't going to be vulnerable to having wire strands stressed and/or broken during rapid agitation or spin cycles, it's still vulnerable enough to getting snagged on something that I'd just as soon stick to hand washing.

I talked to Jeff about his lames. He states that you can put in the normal wash, and on hot-hot. However, he alsot stated that there is a detergent out there that causes his lames to go dead. I would just watch out for that. I cannot tell you wich one because Jeff doesn't even know which detergent is causing it. So, if anyone out there knows let me know so I can tell hem. Getting back to the qestion at hand. I would use woollite and wash it in the GENTLE on the warm wash, and cold rinse. For drying I would just hang dry it. I hope that helps you out.

Thanks for pointing that out....

Perhaps this belongs in the "How Do I Get a Girlfriend" thread?

But seriously ( as the solemn goat advised ), I have a follow-up question: I just bought an Infinity at Arlington, and I have heard it said that it's prudent to reinforce the seams. So what thread should one use for this? Will common cotton thread serve, or must one ferret out a metallic thread?

I'll go with Dave on this and recommend hand washing the lame. Stay away from Woolite--it leaves a thin film on the conductive fibers. A little bit of regular laundry detergent should be enough to emulsify any oils. Plain water will dissolve any salts left from sweaty fencers.

Inquartata-
I will more than likely see him (Jeff) tonight, so I will get an answer for you.
