Array Counter parry riposte, touch left. -

Array Do you have a QT version? The codec's farked up for me and I don't get any visual. I can only hear the sounds. And yes, it does sound like a counter-parry riposte. The stereo system on my computer isn't so great for me to tell whether it's for the right or the left. -

Array Looks like a counter parry riposte to me as well, though the only thing right had was an off target light about six years after left's colored light. Whatta drag. -

Array I agree--counter parry riposte, touch left. This one seems pretty non-controversial...
MR Why sabre? Because you don't take heads with the point. -

It looks like, attack from left no, riposte no, counter-riposte yes. Left. "Let him live upon what belongs to him without wronging others, and accommodate his expense to his revenue."

Array Well gee, guys. If we can't get in a pointless meandering debate that lasts 3 months and results in personal attacks, then what good is it anyway?
Looks the same for me as for the others.
Hey, Tireur: isn't your sig a quote from Errol Flynn? "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Why, yes, it is. Good spot. "Let him live upon what belongs to him without wronging others, and accommodate his expense to his revenue."

Hey, Tireur: isn't your sig a quote from Errol Flynn? Is Craig getting soft in his clip selection or does he have something up his sleeve by presenting this one to us? -

Array Fairly straight forward. Attack from left is parried. Riposte from right is parried. During the valid counter-riposte, referee notices fencer on left is in sweat pants. Ref calls halt, issues yellow card for non conforming equipment. Penalized fencer appeals to bout committee, which rules that the fencer on right had sock that had slipped below knee level, which should have resulted in a halt before the action commenced.
Director is disgusted, gives himself a black card, and goes to neighborhood bar, orders a Guiness. Bartender counters order with vodka gimlet suggestion. Referee acknowledges counter order, drinks the gimlet. "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Array Just saw this... for me!? Craig means it's easy. Woot! Let no fencer claim flicks can't be parried -- especially if one knows exactly when they're coming. For once I feel pretty confident... this does look like a straightforward attack from left, parry riposte, counter-parry riposte touch with remise from right.
Far as I can see, the whole action is fencer left's baby. Left is very ready with the high counter-parry and the flick is decisive. He probably attacked low in order to draw his opponent into the flying parry+flick... his low-line attack has a funky lunge, not the sort of thing you'd do if you were committed to hitting low-line target, but just the sort of thing if you need your torso upright and hand raised to do flick-work. So left's attack was a false offering, to get his opponent to put the blade where he needed it -- second intention.
Fencer right looks downcast... staring at the floor at the beginning and end of the action. Bad body language... maybe this is happening a lot to him. -
Well... Speaking as the fencer on the right, sometimes ya just have to nod and shake your head and smile sometimes. Had just earned my B a couple of days before this video was shot and was fencing an A and multiple Sectional champion. lol He does it to me all the time and I still fall for it. Just have to remember how much I still have to learn. lol Thanks Craig. Have any where I hit him? Oh wait...never happened did it? LOL -

Array Counter Parry Riposte from the Left Touche. Maybe he is hinting to something special in the video. -

Array Touch Left, the fencer at right makes a counter seconds after the valid hit by left therefore I give the touch to the Left. No Question. -

Array Hey All,
Was it just me or did left parry with his forearm?
Take it easy. -

Array Couter parry riposte left for me as well; to the risk of adding nothing else to this thread.
And from what I recall, no it seems the counter parry was made with the blade. - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
