Array How do my hit points affect the various monsters and goblins I have to battle when my flaming sword gets blown out?

Array I believe and I may be pulling it completely out of my *** (pardon my French [heh heh see that's funny cause I actually said that at club about my French grip foil when someone needed to borrow it]) that when someone signs up they have the option to list someone on the board as a referral. I only say that cause I have one referral and it appeared on the same day a friend of mine joined the board so...

Array So umm Craig why is it that some people's little reputation bubble only says their name when you page over it? I'm not talking about the little black one's since those refer to people who have disabled the reputation function, and about that...why aren't you people joining in the fun. Also if you want to see how a forum might operate with limited ability to post due to a reputation/forum standing then hop on over to GameFAQS.com and check out theirs. -

Array Seriously Craig, how about setting the default for "email notification" to "No, thank you"?
My inbox gets enough abuse with smart alecks sending my questions about monsters and goblins and 'can you please help me distribute seventeen bazillion dollars I got from a bank in Africa?"
Would anyone else prefer that? -

Array New forum problems... Craig,
Am I the only one having trouble w/logging in, when using Netscape 6.2.
I have had to go retro', and use 4.7 to do this...
(Although I am keeping 4.7 installed, as it has some features that were cahnged in 6.2, my web-mail - where I get the forum respondent bulletins, requires 6.2, or at lest something more up to date than 4.7...)
I log in using 6.2, and it SEEMS to accept it, but then, when I actually try to post, or reply, I get the no access - register/login page...

Array If you have a lot of posts, that is when you get that road thing to pop up over the green spot. Just poke around and you'll see (<~Discovered it myself. So proud ^_^) "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."

Craig That seems to have done the trick!
Had to make sure Windows 98 wasn't holding the application open in the background by accessing Task Manager. -

Array Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I noticed User CP gives you a breakdown of where you get good/bad reputation things. I assum red means bad, but what's with the clear things? I feel like it's either negative or positive feedback/reputation points where the person giving it was out of points to give.

Rolls. Bingo. The clear/gray are ones where the person doesn't have the "clout" to alter someone's rep. -

It's a brand new thing that will evolve over time. I generally reward posts that are really good.

Okay, I got a red reputation yesterday for a post that was neither stupid, nor imflammatory, or had any substance to warrant a negative post other than the arbitrary whim of a user. If someone finds something like this, can we petition to have this negative rep removed if the powers that be agree? ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

Array Craig shouldn't have to play Judge Judy (although if it floats his boat...personally, I'd rather see the next march article by Walter). The whole point of the ratings is that they ARE somebody's whim.
The only way they prove accurate, however, is when you have a relatively large sample size that reflects the group at large. Until people start rating posts/posters, a single person's opinion can skew results.
It's like movie reviews -- I never trust a specific reviewer, but by going to rottentomatoes.com, where a huge sample of reviews are collected, it's very easy to see if a film garnered a heavily positive or negative reaction overall.
However, I don't think it matters -- I bet most of the people here read most of the threads, and don't really pay attention to the ancillary stuff.
