    Odd question...

I'm not sure if this goes here or the armory boards, but can anyone tell me how 'rapier' is pronounced? I just realized, after watching my fencing project on video, it sounded like I was talking about some sex offender or something.

    Thanks.

*sounds of HEAVY breathing* I think it's ray-pier. *more heavy breathing*

We have a lot of words that have been Anglicized, like rapier, which is pronounced as Sam indicates. In French it'd probably be something like 'hrah-pyay'...

Wow, what a coincidence! Today in English we were reading Romeo & Juliet, and I came across "rapier", wasn't sure how to pronounce it without sounding like a sex offender. I went with "ray-peer", seemed to work. Plus, i was the only one who knew what the heck it was....

Just be glad you weren't discussing commodities and didn't have to be the first to discuss rape seed...
