Array Negrini or Uhlmann 2 simple questions...
which company has better gear, Negrini or Uhlmann?
what do you guys prefer? -

Array Actually I prefer Allstar, but out of those two brands I personally would prefer Uhlmann. They make really good-quality gear.
Note: this is only because I'm not familiar with Negrinis gear since it's not sold in Sweden. What brand you choose depends on what you can get hold of, in my opinion.
Hope you'll be satisfied, whatever brand you choose!

Array I'm not sure that either is better across the board. I have Uhlmann gear myself, but the way the dollar has deteriorated vs the euro it's tough to justify the price differential over Negrini on, say, electric sabre masks, the latter of which seem extremely sturdy and well made. ( Never seen any other Negrini stuff around, not lames at least. Does any US seller stock them? ) -

American Fencers has Negrini jackets, bags, and other stuff. - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
- To not recognize the power of the French grip is to be in denial

No, but Negrini is cheaper than Uhlmann generally, so when absolute prices rise one is more apt to price shop, even though proportionally the price relationship is the same... -

I have found that Negrini is actually more expensive from Negrini than Uhlmann is when one buys it from Langenkamp.
I haven't checked the prices recently however.
That said, I think they are both excellent. I find Negrini's stuff to be a little lighter, but the quality, in general, has been comparable in my experience. Pick whichever one feels or fits better for you.

I use a Negrini FIE electric sabre mask. I like it a lot better feel than the uhlmann masks I've tried. Basically, it's really, really nice. I've also used a few negrini non-FIE non-sabre masks--they're not quite as nice, but certainly a good mask. Never tried the Leon Paul contour fit masks, but if I had a choice between negrini and uhlmann, I would definitely stick with negrini. Similar Threads -
