AHF Weekend of the Rapier

As per the other thread:

Weekend of the Rapier, 2002:

The Association for Historical Fencing, in conjunction with the Martinez Academy of Arms, is pleased to announce a Weekend of the Rapier to be held June 1st and 2nd, 2002 at The Union Management Corp Building, Union City New Jersey. A unique venue, the Building was originally a Silk Mill in the hey day of the textile industry in New Jersey. Today the building is used for commercial loft space for Artists, offices and light manufacturing.

This seminar will be an intensive two days of training emphasizing practical combat application of Italian rapier technique. The focus of this unique seminar will be on learning how to apply basic rapier principles such as Timing, Distance, Proportion, Method/Manner (technical ability), to gain immediate combat effectiveness. Specific guidance will be given to all participants on an individual basis according to the needs of each fencer.

The seminar will consist of a full eight hours of training and practice. For those who already have rapier fencing experience the seminar will provide the opportunity to refine and hone skills. For those with little or no experience this seminar will serve as an introduction to Italian rapier fencing through total emersion in the art, science and experience. All activities will be strictly supervised by professional Masters at Arms and their assistants. The last two hours will be non-stop free assaults conducted under the guidance and critical eye of the Masters, with each assault being evaluated and critiqued.

Instruction will be given by Maestro Ramón Martínez & Maestro Jeannette Acosta-Martinez.
