The post has arrived....

....well actually it arrived two and a half hours ago at half past eight.

And there are no valentine's cards in it whatsoever - just a credit card bill and some insurance details.

Bah. Anyone else in an unreasonable sulk?

Wasn't expecting any - have only just started seeing a chap who isn't the demonstrative type so wouldn't expect anything from him, and secret admirers are a soap opera myth.

But I never quite give up hope until the post hits the doormat! It must be 26 years of conditioning or something.
Now, how does it go, ahem; I am a strong independent woman who doesn't need a man to make my life complete and I certainly don't need contrived displays of affection based on a day of meaningles commercial exploitation to make me happy...BUT I WANT TO BE SENT FLOWERS ANYWAY!!!

I am v shallow.

Oh, boo hoo... Go to http://www.uglypeople.com

There's a whole gallery of people who will never, ever get Valentine's day cards.

Oh, Louweasel the self-described "fencing chick" didn't a Valentine's day card. Let's all give her attention now. While we're at it, let's organize a movement to send Louweasel Valentine's day cards so she doesn't cave in to the pressure of being a fencing chick. I think there are a few Air Force people here; perhaps, they can organize an airlift of cards to Louweasel's house. Yes! We must mobilize the military to save Louweasel's ego... I mean strong, independent pride! It's save Louweasel day! L-Day!

Lou, I want flowers too... or a card, or... you know I'm really not too picky. Anything would be good. But, I will have to make due with a girl's night out.

Nobody gave me a Valentine this year, either. Including my husband. However, he recently gave me an opal pendant in honor of it being Thursday, so I try to keep things in proper perspective.

Same thing with me, I wrote a little poem/haiku/sentimental bit.

When the day is over, and not one valentine you have been given, you just shed a few silent tears of bitter solitude, and do footwork till the pain subsides..

Ahh...bah humbug. Don't fall prey to yet another Hallmark holiday.

...that said, spouse unit did bring home a few nice belgian beers yesterday. A quid pro quo for some extra "attention" later.

I got married for Valentine's Day. This has got to be the greatest day of my life. Well I got to go. So by everyone and don't worry about Valentine's Day and getting cards, it's all commercial. (I'm being a hypocrit aren't I? lol)

Now, come on. St. Valentine's Day is not a Hallmark holiday - it was around long before there was a Hallmark. Hallmark just takes advantage of the opportunity. Sweetest Day, on the other hand,...

Well... I didn't get card or flowers either.

But I went fencing... and watched Horatio Hornblower movies with a friend of mine afterward until... well, we'll leave the REST of the day out, cause I'm not in the line to depress...

And you're right Lou- I'm a stong self-reliant woman and I WANT FLOWERS TOO! *giggle*

I cured the Valentine blues by graduating from LSHTM and seeing Anything Goes at Dury Lane with my mother in the evening. If you ever go to London and see a show see that one, its bloody brillant!!!

I spent Singles Awareness Day dressed entirely in black (excepting the patches of dark grey on my parka), skiing completely alone, in beautiful Vail - let's hear it for windburn!

Thanks PKT!

I still think I should have gotten all dressed up, gone to a fancy place by myself, told the waiter that "he's meeting me here", sat for a while, and then leave crying saying "he should have BEEN here." It would have been fun.
