    bell

Does anyone know where I can get a heart shaped bell for one of my foils. I want to create one just for looks and I'm the cutesy type and I think it would be cool to have a cutesy foil in addition to my old, used rugged one that I've been using for years.

...an old bellguard and a belt grinder?
If this post did not contain any sarcasm, it very well should have.

Would that even be legal for competition. I understand you probably don't want to compete with it, I was just wondering about the legality of it none the less. Maybe if it is, get a skull bell guard.

I too am curious about the legality of it for competition. But unlike the others I think it's a pretty cool idea. Granted, I'd never want one myself...

in order for it to be valid for tourney, it'll have to be a very fat heart...more like what hearts actually look like.

If you want, you can always check the material section of the rules. That'd be m.9 for foil guard. Check it out and decide for yourself.

Mine is on the way to being heart-shaped but not on purpose. It's just a bit crumpled. You might be able to take a hammer and/or pliers to it and shape it into a heart.

Umm, I'd recommend inscribing a heart on a circular guard (You could even paint it red). It may even be legal (or at least ignored at locals as long as it's not to deep and not toooo distracting). A heart-shape guard might compromise the strength of the guard. Broken knuckles due to guard failure aren't fun. Happened to a club-mate a few years back during a competition. I have more than a few crumpled aluminum guards that I've replaced with steel.
