| Writers Needed OK - Some of you expressed interest in creating an e-zine before. I'm calling on those people to see who has any interest in helping out with the articles on Fencing.Net's news sections.
You don't need to be a high level fencer - just love fencing, have an interest in writing something "newsy" and be willing to do a little research.
In order to make fencing.net a better news resource, I have need for people to assist writing articles in the following areas:
- Collegiate fencing (I receive updates from several of the college program via web site update notifications. These either need to be headlined and linked, or someone can take the info and write their own assessment.)
- US Regional: News and results from the various sections/divisions. Fencing.Net can be a great PR resource for you division officers.
- World Cup reports. Veeco is already good about posting some info here. After world cups there is generally info on the french and italian sites if their fencers did well. All that info needs to be pulled together and put into something that the english-speaking community can read. (Involves visiting multiple sources, fixing the google/babelfish translations, and putting it together in a short article. Would take about 1-2 hours per event.)
- Op-Ed pieces. I see lots of opinions on the forum. Care to put it all down in an article where you get just your own say?
- How-to articles. Armory stuff, how to prep for a tournament, etc.
- Photos. (Like what Evan Whitney has contributed.)
What's in it for you?
1. Admiration and respect of your peers.
2. If you're a writer or journalist/journalism major, this can go on your resume.
3. If you are a frequent contributor, I can provide some perks like a free DVD. I want to give something of value to those who make good contributions.
How do you contribute?
