| Golubitsky Foil Clinic I happened to notice that Golubitsky is giving a foil clinic this May in Texas. I already signed up. Is anyone else planning on going? Just curious. Foil Clinic Web Page

| I live here in Amarillo and so far we have around 21 people signed up from all levels from beginner to advanced. I'm not sure how the clinic is going to go but I thnk it will be worthwhile.
We also have a big fencing event coming up on June 5th and 6th, the High Plains Open; http://www.hpfencing.com/open04.html
Hopefully you can make it to the clinic and the tournament both should be worth your efforts. |

| I would like to fence in the HP Open, but it's a 14 hour drive for me. So, it's not too reasonable to think that I will be able to return so soon.
I'm looking into some other options: flying, train, or bus. But unless I find a pretty good deal I'll porbably just drive. I did the driving to Arlington. It took 10-12 hours.
Anyone know any real good deals on travelling to Amirillo, Tx?

Wasn't this billed as an "advanced" clinic? |

| I'm no longer involved with the club that is putting the clinic on but originally the clinic was closed to most the fencers in the area and now everyone is being told they can sign up. I'm not positive that there are that many intermediate or beginner level people signed up but I know the door has been opened in the Amarillo Area.
Last I heard there were around 21 fencers signed up. I'm not sure if that has changed or not.
I know the Coach Howard has been talking with G. and that they have the program completely lined up and it is set for high levels. I think anyone that is a lower level that signs up will be in way over there head. |

| INformation I e-mailed Coach Howard, the person that is putting on the clinic and he states--Directly from his e-mail:
"Matt:
Anyone is welcome. I would say that the fencers should be of at least intermediate level. The material will be over the head of beginners. As I said there are 15 slots open...including the reserved ones for Danny Tickner and Daniel Orick....
Indicate to the coach that intermediate and up are the target audience. The clinic is about a month away now."
I hope this clears things up a bit about what is going to be there.

| Is anyone goes to this clinic, or perhaps someone could talk to or get someone to talk to Golubitsky, perhaps they could clarify what his website means in stating he will fence in athens 04.
There's been much conjecture and while it's generally been agreed that it means he will go the the zonal qualifiers for the ukraine and try to qualify that way, that's still just speculation..

| I'm definitely going, but I'm not so sure if I will have the guts to bring it up. If I do get a sudden surge of courage, I'll post his response.
I did email the address on the web site inquiring about the statement. I never got an answer though.

| Rolls,
Amarillo has an international airport... I do things the cheap way though and go by bus; greyhound and what-not.... It's cheap but it takes as much time as driving... the differnce is you don't have to drive.....
Another thing we have been doing a lot to get to events is renting or using someones van and taking 4-6 of us to an event and then splitting the cost... It's cheaper that way for everyone and we trade out drivers every 2-4 hours....
Just a few thoughts... I'm not sure if they will help with your transportation to the clinic but it might help your gas and traveling expense if you can get to the High Plains Open.... I think it'll be worth the trip there are 7 A's already pre-registered..... http://www.hpfencing.com/open04.html |
