Conversation Between Phrogger and Catseye

  1. Thanks for the compliment. Art Spiegelman (Maus) is one of my influences, as is the artist Javier Mariscal. I don't profess to be as talented as them, however!
  2. Your character artwork looks great, reminds of Maus for some reason...It seems like you're doing it about the fastest way I can think of. Unless of course, you're a better hand inker than computer inker or have sharp pencil sketches then I'd suggest using Levels to clean your scans. Also, the fill tool should make coloring your line work a breeze since its so smoothly done...
  3. Hey! I didn't see this new feature and I rarely visit my control panel. Cool! Glad you are reading the comic. I'm using Photoshop and a Cintiq tablet for the coloring. I scan in my sketches, then ink on a separate layer. I do the coloring underneath the ink layer with the inks set on "multiply." I want to improve my inking technique and general layout skills first then I figure I'll tackle the color. This is my first comic so I'm kind of making it up as I go along, but I hope my artwork will improve quickly, because I have a great story to tell!

PS, any speed tips are much appreciated!
  4. First post!

    Re: Sabrecat

Puts me in the mind of my Zelda, a grey tiger tabby that likes to fence sabre with me (and by fence I mean eat my blade after a paw-parry) and SWAT cats

Edit: What methods are you using to color? I may have a tip or two on how to speed things up.
