Ah, I've been fencing about a year and a bit, now. Not too long, but everyone expresses shock when I tell them that that's how long I've been fencing.

I've had situations slightly similar, except compared to them I really was the newbie. I got two A rated fencers rather annoyed with me, that weekend. Not to mention that I won by not making a single real attack, and primarily countering. I fenced one of them twice at a tournament this last weekend, though, and that doesn't work anymore. Lost the pool bout 5-3, and the DE 15-11. I still did pretty well, considering he didn't just fall into my counterattack game again.
That was, however, the first time I've made it into the table of 16 in an open event. I have a very tough division, especially when it comes to epee... Out of the 25 fencers, there were 8 A's. It's why I enjoy Div2 tournaments.
As for lunch, I haven't really though about it. First off, it would need to be in some city where we both are, at the same time. Then it would need to be something we both like. What are your favorite foods?

Yeah, same here... It'll be six years in a couple of months. So it drove me nuts.

Haha, last night at the club, though? I fenced a woman with really weird moves who thought she was good and I could tell did not like me because she thought I was a newbie know-it-all (when really SHE was new) and had a little girl judging who kept asking ME how to call the points... and since the majority in all fairness should have been mine (I'm a fair person; I also gave her the two that I thought were clearly hers) the woman was getting really miffed. After the bout (5-4, me, no way it would have happened that way in a tourney) she goes, "So, have you got a year or two under your belt?"

I answered simply, "Six." And turned away while she had an 'ohhhh' look on her face.


Funniest. Thing. Ever. Even though it irked me... I forgot five minutes later, anyway. I was off being a weirdo with my friends, whom I missed so very very much.

Awesome. It would be lame to miss fencing for long. It's a part of what keeps my tenuous thread to sanity intact. It's the longest I've done any sport or hobby, pretty much.

I go back to fencing tonight. So I'm eager to be 'in it' again but nervous about whether I'll come back strong or not..

Life's pretty good, but I blew a Div2 tournament this last weekend, and then did pretty well in the open.
