Heh, I often have times where one of the animals wants to play when the other doesn't. One keeps harassing the other, and one just keeps ignoring them. It gets rather interesting sometimes, what they can just ignore.
When I got my kittens I got two so they could defend themselves against by (then) 18 month yellow lab. The female occasionally went after his tail (which he ignored). For most part the dog never bothers the female cat (no matter what she does).
The male cat and him however... that's a different story. The cat will wake the dog occasionally by biting his ears or nose... or sinking all 4 paws on his face. The dog would then peel the claws off and try and hold down the cat so he could carry him around in his mouth. Sometimes the cat takes off, then relaunches into another attack. Other times he's captured and carried about by his scruff. There's pictures of them playing in my "my animals" album on my profile.
For the first year, I had to warn people who entered my home that they may see my 100 lb lab carrying what appears to be a dead cat in his mouth. The cat wasn't dead, just very relaxed and waiting for the dog to drop him in the living room "play spot".
This is where the dog will release and recapture the cat. The cat in turn would see if he can put as many claws and teeth in my dog before this happens. Neither has ever yelped or seemed upset by their play fighting.... except perhaps other dogs who make the mistake of coming into our yard and get beat-up by our cat.
Dear FencerGrl, I am in the same position. I need to spread more cheer before I can rep you back. Isn't that good. Now I need to find someone I agree with. It may be a bit.
Ahh, Vancouver... I like walking around the inukshuk and took some amazing pictures of them just at sunset several years ago - very spiritual setting. Loved the VAG (and love Emily Carr). Also, the anthroplogy museum at UBC is amaaaaaazing and worth the bus ride. Black squirrels at Stanley Park, nice aquarium, awesome Asian food everywhere... this is one terrific city. I can't believe how long it's been since I was there.
Actually, throughout both Maine and Nova Scotia, we never really heard the classic Canadian 'Eh' or the Maine "R as an A" (think Baaa Haaabaaa for Bar Harbor). We did stay at a great B&B in Liverpool NS, and the beer was very good as well.
I was multi-tasking and buying a glove when I stated my age in the profile and got the numbers mixed up. Does anyone want to buy a really, really big glove??? :D
