I'd have to agree, using past performance as a marker for future competition allows someone to live off past exploi.ts versus current results. There is something about recent performances and desire that speaks more to competition versus reward lfor what has occurred in the past

    Hi Craig.

I have a question that I want to post in the armory section but I get a white screen when I try to start a new thread. Any way you can help me out here?

    Hello Craig

I bought two viking swords as it would appear in the database in the day 12/28, the payment has already been made, I wonder when the sword will be sent.
    Thank you very much!
    And happy new year!

Please fix the headline on the story about the Bochum World Cup, Nzingha didn't "Win", she came in second.
  10. I don't read this area - maybe once every 6 months or so. Better use PM or email to get to me.

Learned something new in Sabre - Frustrated in foil

by Craig on 10-18-2011 at 11:26 PM
At the Tiger Open I got to observe a few sabre bouts with running referee commentary from Justin Meehan. After a few actions I started to see what was being talked about with the searches in the middle of the box by one fencer, which were often being called simul.

It was great to be able to start to see that tempo and know what to look for in sabre compared to foil. That tidbit helped up my understanding of the calls when I rewatched some of the stuff going on in the world championships

Nationals

by Craig on 07-21-2011 at 02:36 PM
Concluded the Vet40 season well. I didn't fence my best in pools but pulled everything together in the DEs to win my first national championship.

Odd thing is that the Nationals counts for 400 points where winning vet combined at a NAC is worth 600. My 5th place in Detroit was worth more points than winning nationals. (Combined vs. 40-49 only?)

The win moved me up slightly to 4th in the 40-49 points for the year. Michael Cho (another 1st year vet) won points - a

Halloween?

by Craig on 10-27-2010 at 06:04 PM

This is Asher. He won't be a knight this halloween, as trick or treating should be done in pants (or at least shorts). He'll be Superman and be joined by his brothers the Dementor and Harry Potter.

ESPN Fencing

Outside of the Olympics, fencing doesn't get much play in the mainstream media. In 2008 there were some fencing shots in ESPN the Magazine and there was a sidebar piece on Tim Morehouse and Jason Rogers and how they were trying to get sponsorships.

The quest to get fencing on a mainstream outlet like ESPN continues. Tim Morehouse has stated that he's trying to get a fencing

Explanation by Brad on seeding and results for world cup

How you get seeded into the world cup and process for making the top-64 on day 2:

Top 16 from pools advance to the second day where they have seeds 17-32.

Run a DE for the remaining first-day fencers (those that were neither cut nor advanced in the last two steps)
