I've done a bit more reading and realized that I've indeed run across some of his exchanges before, such as the spider drawing and the dogs/ducks in the apartment. I love the teacher's comment about his kid having 'a great sense of humor but he's the only one who gets it'!

And 'burner' is the right word -- it's been awful out here the past couple of months, and that's a Kansas-bred played-outside-all-day-in-the-summer voice complaining! Bring cooler weather with you, willya? Keeping the fingers crossed for you....
